asomugha, porter, greer, lewis, and robinson as your 5 top DB's?

That'd be rather interesting? Someone is going to get cut/traded and if that's the case, I'd think it'd be greer

How can SF afford him?

I know, the same applies to us as well.

Rumor is the Saints offer is slightly better than SF's but still relatively cheap... I stress the word rumor.

Yeah, but after 08 I felt like we were SB contenders and I feel that way now

I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, but I think that despite their additions along with people hyping them up as basically unbeatable, they are regressing this season. I called Cam Newton's sophomore slump, and I'm calling it for Kaepernick as well.

The odds of making it to at least 3 NFC title games in a row, I'll take that bet every time.

The Saints have a lot of work to do, but they are more talented and dynamic offensively than the 49ers. If they can make some big steps defensively via free agency and draft, we are in just as good of shape, but with even more to prove than they do.

It definitely makes sense. And I could definitely see it happening. I also think we definitely have a shot to get back in contention due to Brees. But SF is a loaded roster, maybe the most talented in over a decade. So I can't say objectively that we are in as good of shape as they are to get to SB. They are better than us at every positional group outside of qb and a slight edge to us at TE.

Nnamdi Asomugha apparently can't choose between the NFL's third-best defense and its worst.

The 31-year-old Eagles castoff is “still torn between (the) 49ers and Saints,” NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted, adding New Orleans is “pushing really hard to get him.”

Money likely is one factor. Playing time could be another.

With New Orleans, which gave up an NFL-record 440.1 yards per game last season, Asomugha would play for his old coach Rob Ryan. Asomugha shined playing for Ryan as a Raider from 2004-08; Ryan is the Saints' new defensive coordinator.

Reports indicate the Saints might release one of their 2012 starters, Patrick Robinson or Jabari Greer, if they sign Asomugha.

With San Francisco, which yielded 294.4 yards per game, Asomugha would return to the Bay Area but possibly not start. It's unlikely he'd unseat Tarell Brown or Carlos Rogers. He'd have a better chance of replacing No. 3 corner Chris Culliver, who got burned badly in the Super Bowl.

No matter what, Asomugha will earn $4 million this season from the Eagles despite being an unmitigated disaster in their system. That's in addition to what his new team forks over.

Asomugha (6-2, 210) isn't the only big corner the 49ers are looking at. The Sacramento Bee reports the team could draft one, mentioning N.C. State's David Amerson and Florida State's Xavier Rhodes as possibilities.

We wouldn't be able to offer more of both? I know we're tight on money, but last I remember hearing, SF was even tighter against the cap.

Douche statement

Found this interesting. I thought they might, but if they do it sounds like Greer.

Hmm, why? Isn't Greer the better corner?

I think so but I doubt they would cut anyone until the preseason.

So, how sure are you?

As to the above, I think if Greer goes it's an age/injury thing.

Nnamdi needs to hurry up and fricking choose already. Not a hard decision, Saints > 49ers. We got other FAs to look at, he needs to quit wasting everyone's time.
