@AdamSchefter

“NFL playoff structure is about to be changed. Under the current CBA proposal, seven teams from each conference will make the playoffs, with only one bye per conference, sources tell ESPN. It would go into effect this upcoming season. More coming on ESPN.com.”

Also 17 game regular season to take place starting 2021 at the earliest

@AdamSchefter

More details: Under the current CBA proposal that NFL owners are pushing for, the playoff field would be expanded to seven teams, while the regular season would be increased to 17 games per team, and the preseason shortened to three games per team, per sources.

Are you intentionally misleading everyone or was that the article?

quote:

Does not equal:

quote:

NFL playoff structure to change next season along with 17 regular season games

The way that’s written and presented is absolutely retarded

I misread the 17 game season, that wouldn’t take place until 2021 at the earliest. The playoff structure is going into effect next season, assuming the CBA is approved which they think it will. So no I didn’t mislead anyone about that

So the 4 division champs and 3 wildcards? I wish they would fix the seeding and make it by overall W/L record

I don’t get why changes needed to be made anyway. No need to fix something that isn’t broke

Not sure how that’s going to work out, but knowing the NFL the saints will have more road games every season

Was listening to a podcast about this subject and they were guessing one year extra home game with the next extra away.

You edited the title... the initial title implied that it was 100% going to happen

I mean it seems all but certain at this point. Only thing left is to agree on the CBA which Schefter said could happen within the next week and that he’d be surprised if there isn’t a new CBA before next season. So I’ll take his word for it

Don’t get me wrong, my beef isn’t with you, it’s with the dipshit who wrote the article

A 17 game season would be 8 home, 8 away, and 1 neutral site game (London, Mexico, or elsewhere)

As a fan, I don't want this

As a fan, I don't want this either

quote:

preseason shortened to three games per team

This is good for season ticket holders.

I would dump preseason all together and do a few live practices with other teams and then roll into the season

If you dropped the preseason then you wouldn't be able to see what the undrafted free agents can do. Coaches use those games to give those guys a chance to make the team.
