Saints Wire had us in a mock yesterday swapping firsts with Cleveland (no. 10) and giving up our first and third next year to draft Ceedee Lamb. I'm sure a lot of people would melt but I'm pretty sure I'd fap. we'd have the best or top 2-3 wr groups in the NFL with that move.

Would be an incredibly dumb move to give up that much for a WR in an extremely deep WR draft. They should only make that kind of move for a potential franchise QB.

Going to grind some AJ Espenesa tape today. Wonder if he's a guy who will be available at 24

I'm not saying they should do that I just thought it was an interesting scenario. Lamb is gonna be very, very good though. He's drawing a lot of comparisons to DeAndre Hopkins.

Really starting to fall in love with Michael Pittman. Whether it's a 24 or a trade up- the guy checks all the boxes for me and the more I learn about him, seems like the type of guy we go after.

Not if they think he’s better than others and a fit for the scheme.

I really like Lamb. However, how many players in every draft are compared to a stud NFL player and never come close? I remember when Justin Blackmon and Kevin White were going to be sure fire perennial Pro Bowlers and Tavon Austin was going to revolutionize the WR position.

I’m not a big fan of this trade but an offense with Michael thomas, CeeDee lamb, Sanders, Kamara, and Cook is fun to think about

Wide receiver is just too risky to take a chance like this though. Especially with good players at that position all over this draft

I think Epenesa will be a really good player but I don’t think he fits our scheme. I think he is more of a 3-4 end bc of his speed. He ran 5.1 at the combine and may struggle to keep containment in a 4-3 defense.

Yetur Gross-Matos is a guy I like that will fit our system better. Would make for a really good rotation with Cam Jordan and Davenport.

Lots of Pittman talk on here. He had the highest Wonderlic score of WRs.

This is fantasy-slanted, but still applicable. Pittman is a risky 1st round pick.

I don’t think we can look at it this way this year. We have no idea where teams have these guys rated. It’s all over the place every year but it’s even more wildly skewed. Because you think Pittman is risky doesn’t mean other teams view it that way.

I read an article on the Athletic where one scout thinks Epenesa is a fourth rounder and that others feel the same. Some guys are going to seriously fall this draft and some are going to be taken a lot higher than what mocks or the experts are saying

Espeneza is a good player but I'm not sure he would fit here schematically. Not twitchy and doesn't really have a spot as a 4-3 end

Gross Motos is more intriguing to me. Has some Marcus Davenport in him in the sense that he's raw but a great prototype DE body and if coached right, could mold him into a specimen. Winning purely off of athleticism but you can see flashes of the tools. With Ryan Nielsen as our DL coach I think we could turn this kid into something really solid

Kiper brought up Pete Guerrerio as a sleeper at RB yesterday.

Data is data. Year & circumstance don’t really matter.

It’s all about mitigating risk in the 1st round. If a team takes him Rd1, data will still show that it’s risky.

Fantasy drafts are all about avoiding risk in the first round. This isn’t a fantasy draft. There are risks with absolutely every pick almost every season in the NFL draft. Hell, Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Simmons and Burrow could be busts.

The dude tested well on the wonderlic (which is outdated and useless) but he did well at the combine, has size and speed and had the stats and tape to back it up. I don’t think NFL teams are going to base their decision to draft him off one obscure statistic when everything else is solid. Outside of Jeudy, Lamb, Ruggs and Jefferson, the rest of the WRs are kind of all lumped in together. I’m not advocating for Pittman, I just don’t think any of us should come on here with one statistic and claim it as a determining factor as whether or not a player is risky, especially in a draft where information is scarce for both FO and analysts

I think Pitman will go mid to early second. He will be after Mims and probably Aiyuk.

In fact, if I had my choice, we wouldn’t take a WR in the first at all but if we did I’d go Mims or Aiyuk.

But I also think if the Saints take Pittman then the FO has earned everyone’s full confidence. How could they not? Sure Pittman might be a bust but there are statistics backing Payton’s drafting of offensive players and more often than not, they hit.

I kind of believe the Saints and Aiyuk smoke. He’s the exact type of WR we need to go with Sanders and Thomas.
