It might really rustle some people

But I can totally see us taking the best OL available, even if it’s a tackle, to try and upgrade over Warford. Could be someone like Cesar Ruiz. I’m not a fan of taking an OL that early, especially when good ones can be had in the third and fourth rounds, but I can see Payton being desperate to upgrade that position.

I'll never bitch about an o lineman. Our o line got abused in our playoff game against the vikes.

Totally agree on OL.

One guy I LOVE in this class is TCU OT Lucas Niang. I am admittedly biased as I went to TCU, but this guy is an absolute stud. If he didn't have injury issues he would be a top 15 pick. Massive dude with great size and weight for the position. Gave up ZERO SACKS IN 3 years at TCU- that might be that stat of the draft. This includes a game against Ohio State who had Nick Bosa and Chase Young. Young has said Lucas is the best OT he's ever gone up against.

Hope Sean has a high grade on him. He's a special player that can help us right away

The more I think about it, the less I would be surprised if they pull the trigger on Jordan Love.

It is always smart to take offensive line in the first two rounds bc they have a low bust rate. I’ll never complain about taking an offensive lineman.

I wouldn't be mad. A lot of teams are really high on him. I heard on a podcast today that some teams have him higher than Herbert on their boards.

He looks like he can make the throws in tight windows.

has good touch too.

has the tools I guess I'd be alright with it.

just depends on who else is on the board.

just my opinion.

I think he has enough tools for Payton to work with. I wouldn’t mind locking down the future if it meant Love is anywhere near the same ballpark as Mahomes

Love def has the tools. Can make some insane throws. Needs some work on his decision making . Seemed to regress a bit in his last year. Playing for Utah State doesn't help.

This is worrisome RE love and Herbert

quote:

% of uncatchably off-target throws targeting when an OPEN receiver 5-18 yards downfield in 2019:

Tua 4.3%
Hurts 5.0%
Burrow 5.1%
Love 14.1%
Herbert 18.1%

Pretty cool though.
Only surprise was Hurts to me.
Where is this guy being drafted?

His coach left before last year to go to texas tech and the new coach totally changed most of the offense. Was not really tailored to what JL does best and that was a major reason for his regression

Saints Wire had us in a mock yesterday swapping firsts with Cleveland (no. 10) and giving up our first and third next year to draft Ceedee Lamb. I'm sure a lot of people would melt but I'm pretty sure I'd fap. we'd have the best or top 2-3 wr groups in the NFL with that move.

Yeah that would be incredibly foolish.

Simmons is gonna be a rockstar.

I like him, but he better go to a team with a D coordinator who knows what to do with him. You don’t just plug Isaiah Simmons in at linebacker and forget about him, that would be a waste of a top 10 pick. You’ve got to take advantage of his unique skill set and move him around, I’m not sure every team has the imagination to do that. There’s a reason Brent Venables gets 2 and a half million a year.

I think it would be a mistake to write off OL for us in this draft. Especially on the interior. Not a strong interior OL class. I would be ecstatic with a guy like Kevin Dotson in the 5th or 6th round. A guy like Netane Muti out of Fresno would make me buy a lottery ticket as well. Hard to gauge where he'll go with the medicals but either of these 2 guys would be awesome at guard.

The St. John's kid is another OL I really like. So fundamentally sound. The saints have a history of moving OL around from their initial draft position: Zach Strief, Andrus Peat, Will Clapp. It's all about having a vision for the player

Guard isn't a day 1 need but with Warford on the last year of his deal and Peat's struggles being well documented you can never have enough depth.

I don’t agree with this. He could still be a stud linebacker even if you plug him in and not move him. He is still the best linebacker prospect in the draft. Now with that being said, you can unlock his full potential and do some unique things from a defensive stand point by moving him around but you probably don’t want to do too much of that year 1. Let him play linebacker year 1 and adjust to the game. It isn’t like he will be a bust unless you move him around.
