Playing Rule Proposal 1 was amended. Both teams are now guaranteed a possession in overtime — but it’s now postseason only. It was approved, per source.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I like ties for regular season. It makes the seeding race more fun, and I don't see any reason why there has to be a winner during the regular season.

New rule to the new OT playoff rule: The minority coach must coach the extra period, even if he/she is already on her period.

and when both teams score a TD we are back to the same problem....(insert name of QB NFL has the most interest in promoting) got one less possession than (Insert name of QB who wasn't supposed to win) We must fix this immediately.

I don't like ties, but it almost seems like an OT is pointless in the regular season when you add so many conditions. 1 10 min Qtr, but each team needs a possession.... At some point you either need to be done with it, or you just go the old college rule and alternate possessions until someone wins

A step in the right direction, but as per usual with large organizations it’s only half a solution

Seriously, they would rather tinker with kickoffs every year but changing OT is too sacred.

Ties don't bother me much as per the standings MDS but being at an exciting 4 qtr game with a hated rival ending in a draw just sucks donkey balls

It was fine the way it was this year. The only ones belly-aching were the Bills and their fans.

Why not just have OT be an additional period during the postseason

All this team A gets the ball then team B gets the ball but if A kicks a FG...and B matches and the sun is setting with the refs laces untied then Team A has to do the hokey pokey BS is just nonsense

Quite honestly its terrible. They are so close to having both teams with possession anyway so why not make it official.

I hate the argument that one team just needs to play defense. If that were the case we wouldnt need OT to begin with.

College rules but start at the 35. No yardage gained and it's a 50+ yard field goal.

And instantly... winning the OT coin toss now means who gets to pick defense first.
