That's what business people involved with the city have always told me.

It also can't be the SKC because, and I know people will laugh, but they have to account for the possibility of the Pelicans being in the Playoffs. NBA blocks certain days off for that possibility

It couldn’t be there anyway. Just not how it’s done. NFL obviously wants those giant overhead views of the massive crowds almost a mile from the stage.

I think I would fly down for that and also host an informal Saints Talk gathering in my suite

It would be at Champions Square for the plebs with either the Dome or Arena used as well for the teams / players and VIPs

It’s an extremely deep setup that goes straight back from the stage.

Set it up on one of the Mississippi River bridges (CCC) facing downtown.

Fans could back up for miles and many could jump when they hate the pick.

Players could get drafted, go on stage, do their thing and get interviewed, then they get on a float and get paraded down a very short route for all the fans to see and cheer.

That's a great idea!

That seems very high.

700,000 is over a 3 day period. Not 1 day. Thurs, Fri, Saturday

Doesn’t change my opinion.

Are these people in the surrounding area that come to the city?

It would be incredible but you also have the first weekend of JazzFest & the golf tournament the weekend that the draft usually is around the last weekend in April. Those are 2 huge events that take up a lot of resources.

True, but they could always move the draft. Wouldn't hurt to make it a week earlier if you have a full year to prepare.

I will never understand the appeal of attending the NFL draft. It is just waiting for a person name go be called. Majority of the time, the fans have no idea who the player is or the player they wanted.

This is one event I will stay home and watch. I only watch the first round anyway. Will keep updates on phone to see who Saints select in other rounds as well as where LSU players are drafted. Otherwise I'm enjoying my weekend doing other things.

New Orleans leaders interested in hosting the 3 day draft. Brings in 700,000 people to downtown NOLA. Let's cross this off our bucket list.
Have you heard this recently? I have heard from some involved that they would love to host it, but logistically it would not be possible.

No reason why the NFL couldn't push it a week or 2, mate

Hotel rooms.... As it is the place gets packed with Jazz Fest... Golf Tournament.. Now if they can move one of the events to a week earlier it would work... Meaning the Jazz Fest or the Draft...

From viewing post history, you were watching the National Pillow Fighting championships over the weekend.

Which makes this an insane take.

They would have to move the Draft up or down a week so its not the same weekend as JazzFest. We cannot do JazzFest and the draft imo.

I did not watch lol. I was merely channel surfing and saw there was a pillow fighting championship. I never invested my time in watching. Just checked to see if women were fighting. Disappointed it was not.

So the fact that you think I watched is just comically bad and an insane take.
