New Orleans leaders interested in hosting the 3 day draft. Brings in 700,000 people to downtown NOLA. Let's cross this off our bucket list.

NOLA, rightfully so, should be in main consideration for any and every event.

It would be incredible but you also have the first weekend of JazzFest & the golf tournament the weekend that the draft usually is around the last weekend in April. Those are 2 huge events that take up a lot of resources.

Doubtful to happen with the events already taking place

It would be an economic boom for the city and downtown. If they can find a way to host it, they should.

The golf tournament brings in 20k tops. I'd much rather host the draft with those resources which are going to bring in much more people as well as coverage of the city.

They’re 90% likely to get an April wrestlemania next year so it likely wouldn’t be until 26 at earliest.

Don't know what year they are eyeing. If the logistics can work, I say go for it. It is 3 day media coverage non stop with 700,000 downtown over 3 days. It is the last big event that we have not hosted.

Obviously too late in the game for 2025 but there's no reason not to work on a future daft being healed in NOLA. There's a few capable venues to host it. SKC being one of the more logical IMO.

Link?

I have been told for years from people in the know that they would never do this because of the logistical challenges with both JazzFest and the Zurich

Woldenberg Park on the river would be cool

It would be something more like Woldenberg. Generally. It’s an extremely deep setup that goes straight back from the stage.

I could see it along the river or just straight down Poydras

Players could get drafted, go on stage, do their thing and get interviewed, then they get on a float and get paraded down a very short route for all the fans to see and cheer.

It also can't be the SKC because, and I know people will laugh, but they have to account for the possibility of the Pelicans being in the Playoffs. NBA blocks certain days off for that possibility

Any guesses/estimates as to what Jazz Fest brings in that weekend?

Also, when considering the 700k for the draft, 20k for the tournament, Jazz Fest numbers...what percentage are locals that are being counted in that number?

If the right people wanted it to happen, concessions could be made.

I think people are underestimating how many people Jazz Fest brings in from out of town and all around the world.
