Out of the twelve players the New Orleans Saints signed, I think only three of them will make the opening day 53-man roster.

Of those three, West Virginia cornerback Keith Washington is included. Washington is a tall, physical cornerback who will fit well in the New Orleans secondary. I already think Washington is an upgrade from PJ Williams and he could fill that number three cornerback spot instantly.

Washington compiled 63 tackles, a sack and a half, one forced fumble, one fumble recovered, five interceptions, 18 passes defended, and one defensive touchdown in his two years at West Virginia.

Joe Bachie Jr. checks in as an undrafted free agent the Saints signed who will likely make the final 53-man roster as well.

Most analysts had a fourth or fifth-round grade on the former Michigan State linebacker and the Saints got him as an undrafted free agent. Bachie is a very physical player who will likely play special teams his first year with the team.

Since the Saints have no linebackers on the roster after the 2020 season aside from their most recent draftee, Bachie has a good chance of sticking around and being a productive playmaker in the big easy.

Bachie concluded his college career with 285 tackles, 28 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, 11 passes defended, four forced fumbles, and five interceptions.

The final player I think has a good chance of making the final 53 man roster is Tennessee wide receiver, Marquez Callaway. Marquez Callaway is a playmaker who has a ton of potential.

Callaway logged 92 receptions, 1,646 yards, a 17.9 yards per reception average, and 13 touchdowns in his career with the Volunteers. Callaway has the potential to be the next great undrafted free agent receiver and the sky truly is the limit for him.

Bachie on talent could potentially pass Hansen or even Ellis. The shortened offseason won't help though. He'll have to make his mark on special teams to stick this year, more than any other year.

Any WR or HB udfas have a shot just based on lack of numbers there. We lack a burner so he could fill that role.

On Washington I doubt he'll come in and be better than PJ in the slot (PJ balls out in the slot but sucks arse outside), and we don't need yet a 4th nickel corner. We need depth outside so if he can't provide that (not saying that as I have no clue) then we have no use for him.

really like Juwan Johnson, he's a Marques Colston clone

both 6'4-225
both have 34" arms
JJ ran a 4.58, Colston ran a 4.54

Neither one creates great separation but use their bodies and long arms to make plays.

I think throck can make the team if we release or trade Warford. We have four players that can play center between McCoy, Ruiz, Easton, and Tom. Won’t need to carry Clapp’s garbage arse around anymore just bc he can snap the ball

If we get a starting third corner and third wr out of this, I'll be stoked.

We usually only carry 4 guys on the interior. I think we make an exception and carry 5 at times because Peat may have to kick out if/when Armstead goes down.

So the rookie is going to have to beat out 2 of Easton, Tom, and Clapp, and that's assuming we don't keep Warford. If we do he has very little shot.

But he is definitely the type we put on the practice squad a year or two while developing, and then bring him up as a backup.

Someone that can legit play OT in the league has a much higher shot of sticking. Throck is projecting as a guard due to physical limitations.

Forgot Tom was on IR all of last year. Thought they might have been a spot but I did feel like that was a little IOL heavy

Kaden Ellis low-key was a beast last preseason. He's making the roster if healthy.

I agree I like Ellis. But this dude sounds like he could be pretty good too. Could be a real scrap for the 6th lb spot and that's a good thing.

Though the roster limit will continue to be 53 for 2020, two players from the practice squad may be brought up to increase roster sizes to 55 on gameday, with those two players reverting back to the practice squad after gameday. Practice squads will also be increased in size from 10 players to 12 beginning this season.

Active gameday rosters will also grow from 46 to 48, provided one of those extra players activated is an offensive lineman.

I stopped reading here. An UDFA isn’t coming in BETTER than a 5 year vet. Who’s actually played overall pretty well for us.

With all the new WRs coming in do we pick up any veteran that gets cut.

I'm thinking they'll at least sign someone similar to Rishard Matthews last year, but I hope someone with a pulse that can actually make the team and compete for WR3.

I’m confused. How do three UDFAs just walk into one of the deepest 53 man rosters in the league?
