Do y’all think Michael Mayer is a fit for us or will he even be there when we pick at 29? Not sure what our needs will be if we pick up Carr.

He’s absolutely is a fit but should not be the pick at 29
This team has bigger needs

I think we were 20th in TE targets with J Johnson, Taysom and Trautman.
Great player but great need with this OC staff?

If we get Carr, the pecking order in the first round should be:
S
DT
DE
IOL
TE
S
DT
DE
IOL
TE

I saw him mocked to Cincy right around our pick. He is a fit anywhere, but I think the Saints are going QB or defense early.

He’ll be long gone at 29 sorry

bullshite, if you can get this guy at 29 you take him. He solves a lot of offensive problems alone

I'm a much bigger fan of Darnell Washington. I think Washington offers much more receiving upside whereas Mayer is slow in and out of breaks and has no separation ability. Mayer is better at blocking, but when I draft a 1st round TE I want a game changer and that's Washington.

Bowers was the game changer. Washington is just big as frick and matchup nightmare in college. I see him as closer to a Marcedes Lewis than a dominant TE in the league.

I'm not convinced you've ever watched Darnell Washington or Michael Mayer play

Bowers was the starter who was also a gamechanger. Washington was the reserve guy who could break open a game with a play but just wasn't funneled targets and lack of target opportunity doesn't mean one isn't a game changer or have the ability to be one.

Show me Michael Mayer creating separation at the break consistently. Thanks. It happens, but it isn't consistent, and it isn't fast.
frick, I mean, even his 10 minute highlight video is just him running a bunch of crossers for the most part and dragging a poor DB for 2-3 yards extra.

Washington wasn't really reserve. UGA played a ton of 2 TE sets.

In terms of target opportunity he absolutely was.

That should tell you something about whether he's a game changer then. If he's a game changer and he's on the field and they throw to the TE position a bunch but they just decide to eschew him for UGA's random arse WR group. That ain't gonna happen.

Luke Musgrave is the TE you want
Posted on 2/9/23 at 10:45 pm to VictoryHill
Washington's production was really very limited. He caught 28 passes this year in 13 games. His last 4 games were 1 catch 11 yards vs Georgia Tech, 1 catch 14 yards against LSU, 1 catch 9 yards against Ohio St, and against TCU he went off and caught 1 catch for 28 yards. I'd rather get someone like Kincaid from Utah based upon his production this year.

Than darnell Washington? Are you mixing him up with someone else?

And would be the number one tight end on all but 3 or 4 NFL teams right now.
Washington was a dam good TE in his own right.
You know who else Was TE 1/1A? Noah Fant and TJ Hockenson... Think either of them would help this team?

Sure, I think Washington could help too. I just don't think he'll be a game changer. I don't think Fant's a game changer either.
