We really, really need to take our cap medicine for a season or two.
And go like 2-15 and 3-14 in ‘24 & ‘25, not 7-10 or 8-9.

We have all of our ‘25 & ‘26 draft choices still, according to ProSportsTransactions.com link

The Saints are taking their cap medicine now.

For the 1000th time they can not get under the cap without restructuring contracts and spreading out the cap impacts over multiple years. Can’t cut any of these large contracts or trade them because that ADDs money to the cap that cannot be spread out.
I know you guys understand this but just want a magical solution, sorry there just isn’t one available.

Naw

Restructuring Carr is literally the opposite of this, and on the largest scale imaginable.

Also, you're making 2025 such a bad year in terms of dead cap that we will have to restructure Carr AGAIN as well as a bunch of guys we need to be moving on from (Davis, Cam, Hill, Juwon , etc.) if we are "taking our medicine".

Please give a detailed description of how they do this without adding money to the cap.

You posted my quote out of context.

We could cut Davis (post June 1) and cut $12M off 2024, but we'd push a chunk of dead cap to 2025. If we have to restructure Carr and 2025 is nuked due to Ram/Latt, then we can't make this move now and push more to 2025.

Taysom would be about $10M in savings for 2024 with a post-June 1 cut.

Kamara would be $11.8M.

Juwon would be $3.5M (may not be enough).

We have issues cutting these guys for 2025/2026 if we extend Carr. We'll have to kick cans and won't really solve much.

Numbers are per OTC

I think they are going to do something with taysom's contract.

I love taysom but if you have a chance to cut 10 mil off the cap you have to do it. They didn't use him enough.

Davis is still a starter and they will want to keep him around.

That cam contract was dumb.

You already know they have to restructure Carr to get under for next yr. I'm sure they knew this when they gave him that deal.

They know what money is going to go where years in advance.

If Latt and Ram stayed the course, we did not have to.

Latt and Ram threw a monkey wrench in this plan. We're on Plan B or C, now.

Latt?

What do u mean?

What I'm saying is they were always going to restructure Carr's contract after the first year. That was built into the contract.

The restructure signals a trade and a way to push his dead cap onto 2025.

Was it, though? It was sold as a 3/100 contract when any restructure kills that.

How do we get ~75M cleared before march so that the Saints comply with the leagues requirement to be under the 2024 salary cap?

We’ll worry about who can be cut post June 1 after you can get the Saint under the 2024 cap without restructuring these players you say we have to cut.
