And when it comes to playoff success and winning a ring, is Trent Dilfer a better qb than Dan Marino? What about Brad Johnson?

Marino only won one playoff game?

What kind of records has Ryan broken lately?

yes, on both accounts…. only referring to playoff success…

but keep in mind, this isn't about their legend status, or who's the better QB all-time…. this about their contracts…. and as of right now, Flacco deserves more than Ryan… Ryan ain't on a shite team, bro…. he just doesn't get it done when it counts…. Flacco does… no interceptions, in 4 playoff games, and an MVP in the Super Bowl to boot, all while Matty Ice was eating popcorn at home like the rest of us…. yeah, no way Ryan should be making more than Flacco… their value is the same at this point, if not swinging more in Flacco's favor than anything...

So because Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer won rings playing on 2 of the best defenses in the history of football, that makes those specific players better than Marino when it comes to playoff success? Never mind the fact that if Marino had defenses like that he would have been winning the Super Bowl every year.

But Marino doesn't have a ring and those guys did, so obviously they were better and deserved to be the highest paid players in football.

they achieved the goal of the playoffs… winning the Super Bowl…

Marino did not…. whether he had good enough D's or not…. hell, he was the reason they got their in the first place, and his place in all-time lore is solid, but he didn't finish the job and get that ring, like they did….

when it all boils down, the only thing that matters is that the two you mentioned got a ring, and Marino didn't….

Marino, in terms of career, was obviously the much better player, but in playoff SUCCESS, he's behind the guys with rings, unfortunately….

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life. So if you were starting a team, would you take those guys before Marino? You have to say yes, because by your own logic, those guys can win the big game and Marino can't. Your logic is the exact reason why just saying someone has a ring is very much a bad way to judge players.

So I guess Jim McMahon is better than Marino to right? The fact that he played with the 85 Bears defense isn't relevant. They won the Super Bowl, Marino didn't. Therefore, McMahon is better.

The Ravens were literally winning games when Trent Dilfer couldn't even get the team in the end zone for weeks lol. Dilfer sucked, but because his defense was amazing, that puts him on a higher level than Marino? It just makes no sense. Rex Grossman nearly won a Super Bowl. I guess that puts him on the same level as Marino.

Seriously, you have to look at circumstances. Just because a team wins a Super Bowl doesn't automatically mean the qb of that team is anything special.

Lets be honest...

Besides that Super Bowl year..

Drew Brees is mostly known for his "Regular Season statistics"

I dont mean that as a knock on Drew. Just because he hasnt won much in the playoffs the last few years....he still deserves his contract.

Agreed. People that look at Dilfer as a "finisher" because he got a ring and Marino as not are kidding themselves.

I'm not even defending Marino never getting it done. But that should be used when debating him versus guys like Montana, Brady, Manning, and Favre. It shouldn't be used to judge him versus the Trent Dilfer's and Brad Johnson's of the world lol.

Absolutely. If Brees is worth 20 mil a year then Ryan deserves at least 40....hell, make it 50. Pay the man already, Atlanta.

Well lets be honest..

Drew is in a "QB friendly" system.

Still a great QB. But there is a reason why he's been an amazing New Orleans Saint, while he was just a great San Diego Charger.

Joe Flacco probably throws close to 5000 yards in this system as well.

He wouldnt be as efficient as Drew (other than his 5 int day against the Falcons ) and probably not throw as many TDs.

But the Saints have a superb system to operate in.

Because of talent and system...He'll always be a top 5 QB in the league.

But other QBs would be better than they currently are if they played for the Saints as well.

Back on topic.

Matt Ryan was the best QB in the NFC this year. And was just short of reaching the Super Bowl. He deserves big time cash.

Dan Marino would trade all of his playoff wins and stats for single ring.

That should tell which is more important.

Brees' post season stats are some of the best there is. Those loses weren't on him.

9 games played

67% comp.
2980 yards
331 ypg
22 touchdowns 4 interceptions

he has been exceptional in the playoffs. He had the record for lowest interception % in the NFL postseason.

He's been better in the playoffs than the regular season IMO.

His losses the last few years have come when he came to play

So Trent Dilfer is a better playoff performer than Dan Marino? That's the discussion here. Would you take Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson in a big game over Dan Marino?

Yes, that's one of the more gentle ways that I'd like to see the utter annihilation and liquidation of the ATL Falcons.

Latest news out of Florida gave me a new idea: In June, 2013, a giant sinkhole at Flowery Branch engulfs the entire organization, they descend beneath the Earth's crust and are melted into atoms.

PS Falcons training camp is Flowery Branch, GA.
