Michael Thomas had been linked to us with that 2nd round pick way before the draft started. Payton and company were jumping for joy when he was still available at 47.

That’s actually a pretty decent list of receivers save for Doctson. Feel like qb play has hurt a lot of those guys quite a bit. Fuller was turning into a beast but can’t stay healthy.

We definitely got the best one.

All of the 2nd round guys from that draft have been more productive so far that the 1st round guys. MT, Shepherd & Tyler Boyd.

Don't forget, Drew and Sean made Mike. I would recon all those other receivers would be more productive, if they were on the Saints.

Fuller has actually done very well when healthy. The rest are WR3 or worse, none are on MT level though.

Don’t get me wrong, Thomas is a beast, but Brees makes receivers.

Look at guys like Lance Moore, Kenny Stills, Robert Meachem, Willie Snead - all have struggled under different QBs and different systems.

None of those guys has secure hands as him.

None of those guys have precise route running as him.

Mike may not be elite outside of here, but he's still a 1k+ receiver.

And Jimmy Graham. I have said this before and I'll say it again: Jimmy Graham stays with the Saints and he goes down as the greatest TE, statistically, in NFL history.

Sterling Shepard would be fun to watch in this offense, he’s actually pretty good the giants are a shite show upfront. Not as big as mike but, he’s shiftier, faster, and is a very good route runner. I’m not taking him over Thomas but to say he wouldn’t be productive here is obsurd.

A lot goes into player development and of course having a future Hall of Fame QB and a HC who has an eye for talent certainly helps. I'm sure MT put in the necessary work (film, playbook, weight room, personal time) to earn his keep. The kid's driven. To your comment about being more productive, I'm assuming you meant more productive as in compared with their current numbers and not as in compared to MT overall. I doubt any of these guys would enjoy being asked to go across the middle.

Whoa careful bud. Don’t you dare try and have a discussion that isn’t simply “___saints player is awesome...everyone else sucks” that shite will NOT fly around here these days.

FWIW I agree with you 110 percent in shepherd. Would do very well in our offense. I like Coleman as well but he’s been in franchise hell to start his career.

Fuller and Shepard are both pretty good players but are NOT better than Mike "Joe Horn Jr." Thomas. They are both the Robins to Odell's and Hopkins's Batman. MT13 is a clear number 1 and is should be talked about in the same category as Odell and Hopkins.

He also has more catches than all three first rounders combined:

Cory Coleman 58
Will Fuller 107
Josh Doctson 69
Laquon Treadwell 50
Total 284

Michael Thomas, Saints 282

Added in Treadwell. Probably more impressive now as the catches are damn near even and it's 1 guy vs. 4.

Edit:
Coleman is on the verge of busting out of the league, but at his best he was a number 3 receiver.

Both Doctson and Treadwell have become solid number 3 guys over the last two years.

Fuller is a pretty good number 2 receiver, but injuries have shortened the past two seasons.

Thomas is a clear number one. Even on another team he'd be a great number two at worst (think Thielen/Diggs combo).

Definitely got the right guy.
