OTC per website,

a June 1st cut or June 1st Trade (confuses me, i don't understand well) saves the Saints 13.9 million. That's a lot of cap savings. Cam is still a great player. But this type of cap savings at this possible decline point of his career and turning 32 before season starts makes you wonder, has he played his last game as a Saint already?

i don't blame you for thinking this.

but

Hendrickson is a FA who has proven himself as the edge sack master. Davenport is more of your cam type player. Granderson and others can step up roles, noah spence resigned etc. Hope if we depart we can get some trade value for him (part of wilson deal has smoke around it)

What are we going to do without him though? Hendrickson is most likely gone and Davenport is good for missing at minimum a 4th of the season.

Best bet is to hope last year was a down year.

Why do you hate all the Old Metairie Saints players?

Is your of thinking that we cut Cam and resign Hendrickson with that money? (Which is understandable, i just dont see it personally).

well this would be a move that helps fix this.

But Cam Jordan possibly gone, Rankins who knows, Malcolm Brown likely gone, Davenport health has been an issue... DL is going to be a point of emphasis again.

however you want to look at it but yes. that would be the hope. paying cam for declining production that davenport is better suited to fill that role doesn't make a lot of sense in and of itself as well.

I wonder what Cam's value would be on the trade market?

People underestimate the significance of the double team that Cam Jordan draws.

i wouldn't expect too much given his age but our best bet would be a filler or some sort of mega trade.

I'd rather Hendrickson get paid than Cam. He's been a hoss but I think his best days are in the rear view.

Except last year when he was handled by rookies and backups

If we lose cam and play Hendrickson on early downs, we'll be torched on the ground

While I like Hendrickson he is not very good against the run and will be very expensive

I like an extension for Jordan. Something two years and a signing bonus conversion of this years salary. Drop his cap number to around 5 mil. Saves the Saints about 8 mil and locks up one of the four key players the Saints need to have on defense. Jordan, Davis, Lattimore, and Williams.

You cant fundamentally cut Cam to bring Hendrickson back much like you can’t cut Malcolm Brown without signing another starting caliber DT. Beyond the pass rush Cam is elite against stopping the run. While Trey can get after the QB he has been schemed at multiple times by opposing offenses to run right at him when he’s in the game. He just doesn’t stop the run very well so you’d need to find another good DE who can play the run. Much the same with Brown unless you think Tuttle and Roach are ready to start but I’m not there yet. They are great role players but Brown is one of the very best at clogging the running lanes up the middle. Cam gave us a discount with his extension and I am very confident he can play that contract out up to it’s face value. The fact is we will just need Carl Granderson to step up into Hendrickson’s role next year. The most I can see the Saints offering Trey is 3 years $20 million or so which is solid money for a rotation DE which he is with Davenport but I see some team giving him the 4 years $40 million Henie likely seeking to be their starting DE. I would put money that team will be Jerry Fontenot’s ATL Falcons too.

The Saints May restructure Cam’s contract. But he isn’t getting cut for Hendrickson. Not happening. The same way Payton isn’t getting traded for draft picks. File all under things that aren’t happening this year.

Hendrickson will be an overpaid player. He was awesome this year, but he’s a part time pass rusher.

Cam consistently pressures the QB and may be the sturdiest against the run in the league. Team leader, etc., etc.

He’s still undervalued, apparently.

He ranked 9th in DE win rate vs. the run. That’s not “elite”.

No he didn’t. He took advantage of great situations. He doesn’t stop the run, draw double teams or make everyone better. He’s a great 3rd pass rusher

Master...lol
