From a value standpoint it makes no sense to trade him. Play him and have the best corner depth in the league. We'll need it with our pass rush being unproven/bad

Our corner depth is actually insane with Marshon healthy

There was no way the team could trade him before 6/01, so the "positive conversation" could also be coach speak to improve his trade value.
Without knowing what they could get in return, we really can't say that now. But the way I look at it is if you think we can make a legit SB run in the next 3 years, you figure out how to keep him. If you are unsure, you have to consider moving him as he will need a new contract in 2027 when he's 31.
Another "humorous to me" angle is that there are only 36 players signed at least through 2026. Only 6 of them have base salaries over $2.5M (Carr, Ram, Latt, Granderson, McCoy, Ruiz). Could 2026/2027 be the year we finally have a manageable cap?
Edit to add: 2027 has 10 under contract, with 4 over $2.5M (McCoy, Granderson, Ruiz, Fuaga)
2028, no players under contract

If we get rid of him, who will fight off Mike Evans' punk arse?

Our boundary corner depth is actually insane with Marshon healthy

The Lattimore trade speculation was never about the team wanting to trade him, it was about him not wanting to be here. Two sides trying to come to some amicable middleground.
This doesn't means he won't be traded but the basis for an acceptable return for the Saints just hasn't been there to this point.

DA damn sure doesn't want to weaken his strongest unit on the team. He needs to win to keep his job. Hope it's true cause I've never been in the hate/trade Latt crowd.

I hope we keep him. With Latt, our secondary could be a legit strength of the team and really help win some games.
And admittedly not understanding the cap implications, I hope we wait till TC or in season to trade Lattimore. Similar the saints bringing in guys like Eli Apple to try and solve a roster black hole, someone who thinks they can win a superbowl this year will be desperate for a CB at some point in Aug-Sept and that would seem the best chance to get a high pick.

Market tanked for corners, probably only got offers for a 4th rounder, maybe a third. So just gonna ride it out since Allen’s job is on the line.

Do y’all think about what you’re saying whenever you post? How the hell does having a ‘positive conversation’ increase trade value? It doesn’t make any fricking sense.
“Oh yea, we’ll throw in an extra 5th rounder because of that positive conversation y’all had a week ago”

If other teams thought Lattimore was pissed at the Saints and demanding a trade, they'd offer less because they know we don't need that kind of cancer in the locker room. So yes, implying a positive relationship with the player can help when negotiating trade value.
