Definitely worth picking him up bruh.

We saw the extreme falloff in the preseason games when we had to watch the backup OLine.

We obviously still need to see Penning improve dramatically, but if he just can't progress fast enough, adding Collins solidifies a potential Plan B where Hurst moves back to LT and Peat/Collins play LG--to saying nothing for the fact that injuries are a reality.

I agree that often this board is irrationally supportive of LSU players, but in this case it's absolutely warranted.

He probably won't be ready until November at the earliest. He tore his acl in December iirc

The Bengals O-line just got smashed by the browns. The browns. Joe burrow had zero time on the pocket. Don’t you think of La’el was still good, they would’ve kept him?

Isn’t he hurt? And wasn’t he playing mostly guard at this point?

wow
That would be brilliant to bring a guard in to play LT and bench our rookie so he doesn’t develop.

But hey I recognize that guy from saturdays

I think he’s kinda done, he wasn’t great for the Bengals when they had him I’d pass

With the Burrow contract, it was more financially related
It frees up some money for the Bengals
He was on PUP

Yes, he is still recovering from injury. He was playing alright and was a big loss for them when he went down late last year. Probably money related.

Thinking maybe we switch Ram and Penning until Penning can be more reliable on the blind side.

Changing one tackle position is bad enough

He is on the PUP because he is still rehabbing his ACL. No one will sign him as a starter and the Bengals probably just need room to sign someone who can step in immediately

False, he was really good in the 2nd half of the season last year. There was a major drop off when he got injured and the Bengals had to play a backup.

As was said and you conveniently ignored, if Collins were to be signed and play it would be as a guard. Hurst could be put back to LT where he has played (at least serviceably) in the past. The problem with signing Collins is, I don't think he will be ready to play for a while. Which doesn't help the immediate problem of Penning's inability to hold up in pass protection. .
