Penning’s ceiling is slightly below average to average. Not a good investment to give a notable second contract to a limited ceiling player. If he moves to guard and does better….maybe.
We complained about keeping Andrus Peat for as long as we did. He failed at tackle, was moved to guard and was an okay backup tackle when needed. Peat level play would be the best case scenario for Penning. I doubt he could be 90% of what Peat was….and that wasn’t great.

Penning is just a straight up bust, if you don't draft a T, he'll finish out his last year as a stop gap until we draft or sign someone. Maybe he gets resigned as depth once everyone else passes but don't see many that become quality starters after looking the way he has 3 seasons in.

He was solid last year

He gave up the most pressures in the league, near league worst in penalties and sacks allowed, and near worst in pass block efficiency. You mean he was “solid” in the run (36th best for tackles per PFF)

so not only is he a turnstile, you don’t have a starting tackle for 2026. You have arse for depth at tackle. Explain how there isn’t a hole?

If we're gonna take an OT I hope it's Membou (I know he probably won't be there). He is already a natural RT and I'm tired of making our OL picks change positions.
