Whining isn't what got him paid, being a beast on the field did.

No problem with this.

Meh. Not happy about this. Whines like a baby and gets more money. Shoulda told him tough luck. Not like he would ever hold out into the season anyway.

you're a fool. you hold our best defensive player who is also the guy who played on one leg half the season out of his passion and loyalty to the game and this team to his emotional outburst that he later recanted once he had calmed down? if your friends and family held you to your standards, you would have none you miserable wretch. go EAD

Saints rarely do such things.
Lewis rarely f@cks up and airs dirty laundry.
He's worth every penny.

I don't think anyone appreciates a player letting his emotions get the best of him on social media. We all think its stupid. However, this hasn't been an ongoing issue with him like it had been with Junior. This, I hope, was a one time thing.

For the Saints, it showed a bit of loyalty to a player that deserved it, and proved that the Saints aren't just cutthroat when it comes to veterans nearing the end of their contract...that they do keep the ones that perform.

I think it was win/win.

I can't see how a Saints fan COULD have an issue with it.....

He played the Saints brass like a finely tuned guitar. Well done Keenan! You deserved it by the way.

Looking at Keenan's play, his contract is a bargain. Mickey sees he doesn't want more money, just more guaranteed... fine, we'll help you and you help our cap. Its a win.

Meanwhile, i'm perplexed as to what's going to transpire with Jahri Evans. Draft day trade/ Restructure waiting on negotiating a market deal, or june 1st cut. We need his cap and his current deal is not very acceptable.

Draft day trade Rafael bush too, maybe use as token to move up from a spot or an acquisition of a 5th or so pick.

Jazzy,

keenan didn't "play" anyone. he allowed himself to make an emotional public response. i would bet money that when they agreed to the new terms, the Saints said, "glad we could do this. you are worth every bit of it. while we are here, don't ever do that again."

I think it was Keenan saying "Look Mickey, I see how you work, and that's fine and dandy, but lets not play games."

im only expecting a restructure. after trading grubbs, i dont think he leaves this team. we want to try and solidify our o line. tough to do by bringing in two rookie guards, and kind of handicaps your draft strategy.

i think the plan was always to get rid of either grubbs or evans. we just went with grubbs.

I agree and we draft a guard early and have Lelito as a back up.

I think the main issue is you think Loomis is stupid.

That's the thing. You may not agree with the way he does business, but he isn't stupid. They got under the cap, signed a nice free agent (two years in a row), traded some assets for picks, and will still be able to field a respectable team this season, all while creating needed cap space for 2016.

I think this season needs to play out before judgement is made on his practices.

Meanwhile, the Patriots lost both Super Bowl starting CBs, one of the best DTs in the league, two RBs that contributed to their success, yet no one is questioning their "retooling".

ETA: To add to the Patriots, they signed a CB that is known for getting burned in Fletcher and the Saints 4th RB (Cadet). Not exactly fair tradeoff.

Meanwhile we added two legit proven starters, a HB who has had over 1200 yards in a year and can catch and run, and a ppotential starting LB with actual cover skills.

Yes we lost a few pieces but we also added equally as good if not better pieces at other spots.

But we traded Graham so we are tanking.

Same here. Maybe they're waiting to see if they can grab one of Collins/Scherff in the draft to do something with Jahri. I could see a June 1st cut, but being that he should have trade value, that route would make more sense.
