Some sort of kicking coach... don't know how much coaching a kicker needs, though.

to the Saints front office.

They know we have a shot to win it all and they want to keep someone around that has been here through the worst times. I love it.

to the Saints and to Carney

no other team will scoop him up

he hangs around the saints, gets paid, doesnt have to move his family, and gets a ring

sounds good to me

Good for Carney. It might be good for Hartley to have a veteran around to talk to.

Another step in building a winning culture, by keeping class acts in the organization.

Nice move. Maybe Deuce could be a running consultant?

Great move by the Saints IMO. I was at the Falcons game a couple weeks back and as soon as Hartley missed his XP, he got screamed at by Payton, then Carney came over and talked to him for several minutes. Really seemed to calm Hartley down.

The Saints aren't doing this to be "class" guys; they're doing it because they have a young, untested kicker heading into the playoffs. It also prevents Carney from showing up on another team down the stretch. It's also possible that this was Carney's idea--he knew his days were numbered at best and he really seems to like the organization, so perhaps he made them a sweetheart offer. In either case, it looks like a win for all concerned.

Now it looks like an even better move. Thanks for the info.

Class move by Saints. Hartley looks good so far.
