There's only one explanation for Rattler starting all 17 games and that is we are winning games and he is good, and we are in the playoff hunt.

If we are losing games, which we all think we will, he will get replaced by midseason.

I think we start 1-3ish and he is replaced. An early Bye would have been ideal but we have a late one

Yup. It's going to be back and forth most of the year. Coach will hope someone will catch a little fire to close out the year heading into next year.
The worst part of the season will be the tards and trolls proclaiming they knew all along we would have a bad season after every loss lol

TD should put me in charge of the ban hammer!

Once Shough is the starter it will be him the rest of the way barring injury. They will give him grace to learn and develop

I thought about that but I don't think they leave him in if he goes through a really rough rookie stretch. Otherwise just let him start from the get go. We will see. Looking forward to a no DA no Carr year. It's already a successful season to many of us lol

I get what you’re trying to say, but this is not that situation. If we had an established veteran for Shough to sit behind for some games……fine. Rattler is not that, it serves no purpose for Shough to sit behind Rattler

Certainly it does at least for a few games

Agreed. If you start Rattler its because he's the the guy. You don't sit Shough only to eventually start him. If anything you can use everyone's age argument against them and say that it makes more sense to start Shough and then have Rattler "develop" as the younger QB.

First four games are the hardest part of our schedule. I thought it was stupid, but we invested a high pick in him.

Zero reason to throw him out there right away and kill his confidence. Maybe bring him in later in the season if we are losing and schedule softens up.

Lost less pressure when the team is going nowhere also.

Nah

First four is a difficult part of the schedule and Rattler has experience. There is great benefit in seeing the speed of the game on the sidelines, how they call plays, adjust between series and at halftime.

What does experience mean if he is going to end up on the bench? It makes sense to let your actual starter gain experience during a difficult stretch than to let him ride the bench.

Unfortunately we may do something that stupid but it just doesn't make sense to me. It makes more sense to gauge Shough on how he actually looks during the "difficult stretch". That's also an extra 4 games to build chemistry with his O line and WR.

There is absolutely no benefit to having our starter not play 4 games for no reason. The only thing that does is waste time. Rattler isn't a vet that we are expecting Shough to learn from. Its more likely that we do this and tell Shough "do everything the opposite of this guy when you get in".

The local media has been OPENLY pushing for Rattler. Jim Derry’s been bashing them about it all offseason. It’s because he has this weird cult following, and they are loud

Gee, I wonder why

Duncan is the sportswriter’s version of Jin Cramer, just not as loud.
