You miserable fricks are really arguing this much over a god damned backup QB??? Either of these guys for their current contracts are GREAT QB2 options. Jeez I hate the fans in the offseason.
The fact is you're both wrong. For sake of argument lets say the money is equal, then Dalton is the best back-up. Quiet guy, yet an experienced veteran and capable enough to not always lose you games and can still make a some plays here & there to help win some games.
Again for arguments sake lets money is equal, if I had to pick either to be my starter then I'd pick Jamies. Higher upside that does not hamstring an offense due to arm strength or willingness to take chances downfield. He can make plays a lot of QBs can't. He has thrown INTs in his career so that is a worry, but Dalton has shown he can throw some as well.
Again these are backups damnit, that's why they have the contracts they have and signed to the teams they are with their QB1/draft situations.
Dalton 2yr/$10M with $17M max value
Winston 1yr/$4M with $8M max value

It was cheaper to keep Winston due to cap hit if cut etc
They’re morons

I 100% agree with this. It's quite literally my entire point.

His "higher upside" is purely theoretical as we've never actually seen it. The year they finally gave him a chance to show his upside, the guy gave the ball to the defense 36 times in a single season.
And yes....both of them are no better than backups. But one, in particular, has a much higher chance of losing you the game. I just enjoy watching IBlowJamiesSoFar get upset whenever someone brings up the factual statements regarding Winston's charitable contributions to defenses across the NFL.

we're all very much aware of this....which makes you the moron.
I'm still waiting on your explanation about how this is a Super Bowl caliber team. I'll be more than happy to eat crow so maybe you can convince me.

The defense was partly to blame, but Dalton choked in the 2nd half of that game.
I’m sick of your retarded takes. You forget the 20 something he put up in the first half. He also led drives down the field all game long. Defense collapsed in the 4th quarter and could not stop Burrow.
But you keep championing Winston who outside of that miraculous 4th quarter against Atlanta playing prevent drop zone averaged 11 points a game.
But it’s Daltons fault they lost putting up 26 on the board. What a joke.
I’ve said on here multiple times. Before the Raiders game the Saints defense was dead last in ppg given up in the entire league. Don’t care who the qb is giving up that many points, you not gonna win many games. And that was with relatively low numbers the few games Winston started the year when the defense was healthy.

Kinda kills your narrative if true. He looked like dog shite the first three quarters when healthy, and after he got hurt turned into joe Montana in the 4th that game.
Then went back to looking like shite the other two games.

He also went 3 and out and turnover on downs when he had a chance to win the game. He literally needed a first down to ice the Bengals and he choked.

So you chew me for ignoring Dalton putting up 20 in the first half, and now these points don't count because they help your argument. Hilarious.

Don't know when it happened, but there were tons of reports acknowledging that he did fracture 4 vertebrae in his back and the medical staff reported he was good to go as long as he could manage the pain. Then everyone saw the limitations against TB, he had more accuracy issues than normal.
Bleacher Report Article
quote:
Winston is in "a lot of pain" and will be wearing extra padding to protect the area, Glazer added. Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com also noted the veteran signal-caller has been in pain "all week."
Winston took a hit in the fourth quarter of a Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons and was checked out in the medical tent before returning to the Saints bench. After the game, he said he was in pain
Here says it happened in the 4th

You could see he wasn't the same from one's couch. Wasted a lot of series trying to prove he could.

Show your work. He came back healthy week 1 and went back out week 3 for a toe dislocation(allegedly). He isn't on any injury report that I can find on week 2 or 3
I'm talking about Jameis, you must be talking about Mike. Jameis said he was hurt after game 1. Everyone knew he was playing hurt game 2 against the Bucs.
quote:
forgot the only time Jamies throws and interception is because he's hurt. What a trooper for staying in the league while being hurt for 8 consecutive seasons. I forgot Winston is the only person prone to injuries.
You're just ignoring that I think he got good coaching and developed and just going straight to a bullshite excuse I never made.

Yep. I did laugh at the fact that the medical staff thought it would be a good idea for a player dealing with severe back pain to fly to London thinking he'd be able to play in a few days after the flight.

Well all the board doctors here said it didn't matter too

No shite I’m talking about Mike. It goes way back to Dalton not having the benefit of Thomas to throw to. You’re just so erect whenever it comes to defending Jamies that you just can’t follow along.

Developed to still turning the ball over at a tremendous rate.

You fricking idiot. I've been talking about Jameis injury the entire conversation, and your remedial English arse throws in Mike Thomas's injury during my talk of when Jameis got hurt.

You sound like all the other idiots that blame Brees for the 4th quarter chokes in the playoffs when he got us the lead only to see the defense blow it at the end. SF, Minny, Rams game etc….

Winston hurt or not looked like crap against Atlanta for 3 quarters with an entirely healthy offense, and defense playing respectable. Had MT, Kamara, Olave Jarvis etc.
Dalton did pretty good until towards the end of the year when the offense sputtered.
But he never had MT the entire year, had to finish the year with not one but two rookie receivers one being undrafted, and an online missing Peat, Ruiz and Ram.
You keep using injuries as an excuse for Winston, but he had a fully healthy lineup around him. Look at the shiteshow Dalton was finishing up the year with.

Like how Dalton didn’t have MT to throw to?
Irrelevant when he's playing hurt.
There are TWO people in my question. Dalton and MT. Two. One, Two. Then you respond with "he". WHO THE frick IS "HE" WHEN I'M QUITE LITERALLY TALKING ABOUT AD AND MT?
Like I said.....you're so dementedly obsessed with Winston that you can't follow along with incredibly simple thoughts.
Thank you for continuing to confirm almost* every thing I've ever said about you.
*- I can't confirm that you've literally had Winston's dick in your mouth this entire time.
