Great thing about America is that someone can choose not to listen. All of this veiled listen shite is really just someone saying I’m gonna tell you how to think.

Looks like that’s exactly what brees was asked

He said a whole lot of the same stuff without saying anything.

You need to listen, have compassion, and educate yourself. All without doing anything to educate anyone on the current issue.

What do “we” need to listen to?

Which one? The one where he said he looked up to him but this is disappointing and he needs to shut up? Or the one where he tried to explain his different viewpoint on the flag? I didn't hear him say once, "drew, you're a bad guy."

I think he provided a lot of perspective about a lot of the questions that we have, such as;

1) why riot?
2) why can't I say the N word but you can?
etc.

He also stated this is the first of many episodes, so hopefully there will be future episodes that give you more answers.

1) Because they saw an opportunity for lawlessness and took it, knowing you white liberals would be too afraid to correct their behavior.

2) Because they don’t want to be held to the same standards as everyone else.

Pretty simple and I didn’t need a podcast to explain it.

Content matters. The way he delivered his message said exactly that. Would you throw a guy who is your friend off a cliff if you thought he wasn't a "bad guy"? Jenkins made a decision to throw a good man to the wolves to appease to a radical audience that demands black athletes respond like this. Would you do that to a friend or would you talk to him in person?

This ain't on Brees...Jenkins is the one that showed his true nature. As a black man, I'm quite sure he is very upset about racism in this country. I, for the most part would agree with him. You don't fix racism by burning down people who has been a leader when it comes to community concern and responsibility.

Unfortunately Jenkins will be praised for this publicly while resentment continues to build in the hearts of people who disagree with him. Seems counterproductive to me.

Everything is not white/black, left/right, liberal/conservative like you think it is. This isn't even a political issue. Civil rights has never been political and never will be. Many of the black people protesting are conservative. I have voted red my entire life, and I live in a VERY red state.

Take a step back and try to see that 1) everyone that doesn't think like you isn't a piece of shite, 2) you don't know everything, 3) a select few to not represent the whole.

His reason is because nobody is listening. Hence the girl in the park story. Then forgoes telling us what we need to listen to.

quote:

2) why can't I say the N word but you can?

Because black people use it as a term of endearment. Meanwhile white people use it against their ancestors as a form of oppression. He even said he had to do research on it because he didn’t know why. He already had his mind made up before that it was okay but just had to find talking points for his side.

So again what do I as a middle class white male need to listen to? Since that is all that is being said there should be someone that could answer it.

I'm 100% sure he did not ask Brees how he felt about kneeling.

He asked Brees what was his responsibility as a leader amidst all of this.

That is not like saying it's just semantics, that is 2 entirely different questions.

I'll preface this by saying I have a ton of post the past 2 days that are pro-Brees and the response to his comments are complete bullshite, so I don't want my words to get confused here. That being said, Brees's comments were really volunteered, the part everyone is upset about that he answered didn't really need to be in his response based on what the question was.

Looks like you didn't watch the interview, because that tweet is incorrect.

There is an interview, full audio, you can go listen to it. The guy did not ask what Brees thinks about players kneeling, not even close really.

I'll help you out, not sure why you'd take a random twitter response instead of the actual interview:

How do you think the NFL will and should respond to that and what is your responsibility as a leader in times like this?

THAT was the question, quoted. So your Twitter guy you quoted was incorrect.

Not wanting to disrespect the flag and anthem of the greatest country on earth, that oh by the way all these people live in, is tone-deaf and insensitive?

I mean we aren’t perfect but where else on earth could these guys have had the opportunity to do what they do and be as successful?
