It’s hindsight, but resting Brees week 17 lost the O’s precision.

Two weeks is too long not going at game speed.

Exactly. What precision are you talking about?

Offense has been out of synch sinxe week 11. Resting week 17 had nothing to do with it.

So, we worked that out against Philly. Good deal.

The Eagles, who were the defending Super Bowl champs and had just won at Chicago, came out and threw their best punch at us. They played like they wanted to win and keep playing next week.

Brees completed almost 75% again, for 300 yds and 2 TDs. He converted several 3rd and longs (longer than 10 yds). We held the ball for 2 long drives, dissecting their defense. We made plays that were negated by penalties (at least one that was not real), then came back and made more plays.

Offense was precise, they just faced a tough opponent. You get that in the playoffs.

The offense was pretty solid this past weekend. I do agree in the 1st quarter, we did see them shaking off a bit of rust, however.

The Eagles jumping out to a 14-0 lead (vs Eagles scripted plays, while the Saints D was shaking off the aforementioned rust), and Lutz missing the last FG to give the Eagles one last chance, made things look worse than it actually was.

The offense had 25 first downs (most in a game since week 11 vs Philly) and averaged 5.92 yards per play.

The TOP edge is pretty remarkable considering how lopsided it was in favor of the Eagles in the first quarter (37:50-22:10).

I was happy to see that kind of efficiency once again. Drew was phenomenal from the 2nd Q on.
