re: It's been a few years, what do you think of the draft format?

I don't like it. It kills the event, drags it out way too long for fans.
Also, I think it hurts us, and several other teams.
Loomis used to be a stud at finding the mid and late round gems, with little time to prepare. There are other teams that did this well too; and then there were the teams that started to shite the bed after the first couple picks.
Now, everyone gets time to regroup, twice. GMs who are quick and sharp, with a good feel for the players remaining, they no longer are a major asset. It's more important to be able to negotiate with free agents now.

HATE the new format!
I loved draft weekend. Now it's too much prime time marathon of crap.
I will concede, I like a little less time between picks in the first round and that they are taking the show on the road. But it should still be two days, not this marathon that's broken up over a few days.

Used to be up there with the super bowl for me. Haven't watched it since the first year of the new format.

it is the ultimate piece of fricking shite.
Saturday Morning, wake up, beer at 9:00, not move a muscle for 10 hours is the GOAT.
I also don't like how they've limited the time allotments too. frick Roger. I want to sit there and watch a 14 minute kiper episode inbetween picks. There's not enough time now for all tv stuff inbetween.

Selfishly I love the new format as I can actually watch the first round. No shot I'd be able to watch even a good chunk of it now unless dvr'd.

I like it.
Hear me out:
1. More detailed focus on more selections. In the old format, that 15 hour Saturday would mostly be a re-hash of the first 2 rounds of winners and losers by 4pm until the rest of the night. Put on the back burner were the 3rd and 4th round selections that you would have to wait 10 mins until they finished multiple boring interviews with multiple team's coach or GM's. In this new format, they are pretty efficient with showing immediate highlights/analysis of each individual selection of the first 4 rounds on the first two nights (Thurs & Fri). So that's a gain of two rounds with more focused info.
CAVEAT: Both formats fail equally in the late round selection coverage. Late round selections on Sunday (in the old format) and on Saturday (in the new format) were/are still extremely frustrating to watch as fans have to resort to intense ticker reading to just find out who their team selected because the networks are too busy only talking about the first 4 round winners & losers. We know those late selections deserve equally attention because they also produce All-Pros, HOFs & starters, yet some selections never even get a belated highlight or analysis, just a sorry ticker mention, that if you missed reading on the first go-round you have to wait what seems to be an eternity for the 193rd selection to roll around again.
2. More drama for more rounds. In the new format, after the first round is over, fans get to take a breath, re-evaluate their boards and figure out which first-round grades are still on the board. The second night becomes almost as dramatic as the first round given all the good players left on the board. So that's a win in the the watch-ability department. (This less-intense drama somewhat happens for the first few picks of 5th round before the talking heads get side-tracked with overall team grades/interviews for the rest of the broadcast). In the old format, it was an all-day blur of selections on Saturday and there was no evaluative time to get your hopes up that your team would get to select that superstar steal that fell out the top round(s), especially if you were drunk.
3. It's more entertaining. It's more entertaining in the new format watching some overrated haughty QB who arrogantly thought he was a sure-fire first-rounder have to sit in the green room and wait a full 24 hours or more before he's picked in the second round, instead of the old format where the "poor soul" had to wait just "3 hours more". :yank: :yank: GFY
3. It's like having multiple Super Bowl parties in a row. In the old format, on an all-day Saturday binge, the food got old, stale, and started growing diarrhea-inducing critters you couldn't see when you were drunk and still picking on that spoiled potato salad at 8pm that had been out on the counter since 10 am. In the new format, on the first night there's jambalaya/gumbo, finger sandwiches, swedish meatballs and shrimp pasta to go thru in a short amount of hours. On Fri, there's ripping thru Popeyes, pizza, nachos, etc. On Saturday, there's savory BBQ/beer to down in a timely manner. The more, the merrier.

Meh hate it, I enjoyed sitting in on a Saturday and watching rounds 1-4

I don't like it for many of the reasons already mentioned but maybe there could be some compromise and have the first 2 rounds on Friday night and 3-7 on Saturday.

Do y'all remember what happened to Seahawk fans when they picked last in the 2014 draft??
They kept showing their huge draft party during the whole draft anticipating their pick and then after it was all said and done, those assholes waited out in the rain just to have the Seahawks trade their pick to the Vikings
.. Then they just went home, party over
frick you seattle

Hate the new format. I agree with most-- that Saturday was like Superbowl Sunday. I used to love when Kiper hyped up a player for 15 minutes predicting he would go next and then be wrong. His colleagues would look at him like he was an idiot. Not enough time to build the hype now. Plus what is the deal with inviting 20+ players to the draft. It used to be no more than 7 (the elite). Its definitely watered down now.
