Yes. They do. And no one has stopped trying. Just the last two years, they’ve sat out the initial frenzy. You are acting like free agency is ending when it hasn’t even started yet. There are still tons of guys available and they will sign guys that will help this team win games.

Check out last years draft and FA’s when you have quality talent evaluation....

No one is saying don’t sign ANY free agent. Saying stay away from most big money FA. Get bargains on FA and build through draft.

The team was good because they landed top-end talent in the draft (Latty, Ram, Kamara)....not because they signed a bunch of backups in free agency.
That kind of a draft is extremely rare, obviously.
The Teo/Klein signings are important and make a difference, but the most talented players can put you over the top. There is risk involved with all of it.
This season will most likely be a good one, i'm looking forward to it, but missing out on Graham, then missing out on the very reasonable Wilkerson deal sucks. These guys are difference makers at their positions.

Everyone is overpaid in FA so that doesn't bother me.
Plus, you don't have to pay all the studs from the last 2 drafts big money for at least another 2-3 years. I don't know what happens to cap space that isn't used, but just find is strange that we've always been aggressive with about 2 pennies to spare but now that we can afford it haven't really done anything yet.

I think our FO likes what we have today. Perfect blend of veterans and young guys who mesh well together and have their eyes on the prize. The last thing we need is a big FA to come in and not produce on the field while taking a huge chunk of our cap space and creating a storyline as being a headache in the locker room.
Big names do not = championships (most of the time) Although, seeing what the Eagles are doing makes me believe we can do the same. They bring in guys on their own "prove it" deals and they actually do prove it.

It happens.
I'd love Suh and ASJ.....then draft the hell out of the draft.

You can carry it over to the following year.

Yep. This isn't National Signing Day. Patience.
We get a visit from a player, and people here feel it's just a matter of time before the ink dries.

This guy alone changed my entire perspective of free agency. He was the #1 free agent that year and legit game changer. The media and other fans were pissed when the Saints came out of nowhere to sign him.
And he absolutely sucked the entire time he was here. After that, I don't read too much into who we do (and don't) sign until they hit the field.

The majority of this board has been brainwashed into thinking that this is the most important day of the year for their NFL team for the sake of eyeballs and clicks, when most data proves that results are negligible.
The draft is and always be the most important day. Good drafts the past two years have made it to where we don't need to make huge splashes in free agency.

The Saints are sitting with about 10 mil in cap space. After drew, Coleman, and rookie allotment.
Graham got 3 years, 30 mil from GB.
You can only push that out so far. You do it for Brees, not a TE.
