I'd expect we'd suck with those guys too.

Because we've sucked with those guys.

This regime has put some of the worst defenses in the history of football on the field over the last decade, no matter what the roster looked like, but somehow folks who aren't falling for "be patient" are the unreasonable ones.

Miles' accomplishments should not be minimized. Both did amazing things for our beloved teams. Most successful leaders will tell you that it's much tougher to sustain success rather than build it. Payton is a perfect example of how hard it is to sustain. Some of the best coaches in the history of football have said if you stay more than 8, 9, 10 years somewhere it's too long. You become much less effective over time.

Unfortunately both coaches are proving this point to be true.

I agree. Prolly the same ones who defended miles are defending Payton's d the last 10 years. It's a joke.

Payton is an offensive genius who doesn't give a shite about his defense.

Les Miles is an offensive coach whose offense sucked but won because he inherited a Saban/Muschamp defense and then had Pelini and Chavis fall in his lap.

Because in the NFL you can come back from 3 losses
No you can't. They showed a stat during the game, where no team has made the playoffs when starting 0-3, since the playoff expansion in 2001 or whatever year it is.

Just listening to Gruden list the injuries on defense (secondary in particular but he also mentioned Ellerbe and Rankins) was kinda eye opening for me. I mean, almost our entire secondary were backups last night.

He's right. Also no team has ever lost there last 3 games and still won the super bowl.

Are we on pace to be the worst defense in the history of the NFL again?
Actually, we are. Mike and Mike said this morning that the Saints and Raiders are neck and neck in competition to break that record this year.

Injuries are one thing, but getting absolutely shredded with 4 minutes to go when you're down 13 points and the other team is only going to run the football is inexcusable.

The Saints don't have the players and it's high time that heads start rolling because of it.

The Special Teams coach should be fired. That was the turning point in the game momentum-wise, but who knows if the Saints could have ever stopped the Falcons.

I like in the preseason we always pretend the defense is improved based on a few PBU's and a sack here and there.

EVERY preseason.

Have you seen the number of injuries on this defense?

The fricking Broncos would be struggling with this level of injuries

The only team that I think would be able to function through a rash of injuries is New England. Mainly because I believe their scouting and talent evaluation is the best in the league.
