This is a large reason I’m not interested at all in him. A lot easier to play defense when the opposition has to be one dimensional.

Not true

Glenn is actually a good defensive coach. Players play hard for him.

Has proven to be a good coach at a couple of stops. There aren't any huge names on that lions defense.

Definitely good enough to give an interview to.

He's improved in scoring defense the last 3 seasons, and despite the mass injuries, they're 9th in scoring defense this season.

I prefer someone different; but to act like he shouldn't be a candidate at all, along with comparing him to EB is ridiculous imo. He and EB don't really have anything in common but race.

I just want to know how Glenn is an improvement over Allen.

Glenn isn’t improving anything on the offensive side of the ball. Sure our defense might be good, but defenses weren’t the problem under Allen.

Just seems like a completely lateral move that will find ourselves looking for another coach within 3-5 years

On the backs of 11 top 100 picks on defense including 3 first rounders and a slew of FAs. Playing off an offense hanging 30+ points a week. You’re enamored with the results but oblivious to the process.

Glenn seems to be a pretty good coach. Can he be a good HC? I don't know, and I do not want to find out.

I do not want a Defensive HC, but more importantly, we need to break cleanly from the "We need someone that coached under Payton" philosophy

We need Loomis gone. We need Ireland gone.

We need a fresh Offensive Coach and the hire shouldn't be based on whether or not they coached for Payton or know Loomis.

4 offenses avg 30/game. Detroit is better at scoring defense than the other 3.

How are you qualifying this? Ryan Nielsen was a good coach when the personnel was prime. Dennis Allen was a good DC.

They have a DE Aidan Hutchinson who was pacing to be DPOY before he got hurt

Are you always intentionally obtuse or are you for real

I did not say a good offense automatically equals a good defense. Though BAL and BUF are top 3 in DVOA along with DET. Should we interview Zach Orr and Bobby Babich?

Maybe. I think we should cast a wide net.

No. The lions are good because of their offense and their front office, not their defense

No new coach will win here. They'll take the job for the pay, knowing they won't win. Hell, I'd take the job knowing its impossible to win. And I'd leave the team in even more of a dumpster fire. The Saints are back to being the Aints. Get used to it. As long as Goodell is the NFL the Saints aren't winning. If anyone believes the Saints will be good again soon they aren't paying attention. Gayle paying pedophiles is definitely playing a part in that too.

If you're only a Saints fan because of Brees and Payton, start rooting for another team. This team is a bottom feeder from now on.

We need a complete reset and avoid bringing in coaches (not named Joe Brady) connected to Sean Payton.

Plus, I don’t want back to back defensive minded HCs. If you go through the entire NFL HC list, most of the successful teams have offensive minded HCs.

Off HCs in AFC = 9
Def HCs in AFc = 6
ST HCs in AFC = 1

Off HCs in playoffs in AFc = 3
Def HCs in playoffs in AFC = 3
ST HCs in playoffs in AFC = 1

Off HC in NFC = 10
Def HC in NFC = 6

Off HC in playoffs in NFC = 5
Def HC in playoffs in NFC = 2

Totals with playoffs % in playoffs...
Off HC = 19 (42.1%)
Def HC = 12 (41.7%)
ST HC = 1 (100%)

The moral of this story is hire Rizzi (haha). For real though, it's basically no difference in success rate.

Note - used HCs that started season, no interims.

It's difficult to tell if he could turn around a bottom tier franchise. We may need an experience coach like Gruden. He has experience working for two unorganized franchises.

Full strength?? Missing half the defense?

And the Vikings DC ruined his name in the coaching world already with how he treated Tua. Its gonna be some years before you take a risk on him.
