If we don't get Joe B as our QB of the future, anyone deserve a 2nd chance?

Joe Burrow is being projected as a top 10 pick now, which likely puts him out of reach for the Saints and ruins my dream scenario. While this seems to be a good QB draft, if we don't draft one there are also a few failures out there looking for fresh starts. Who would you pick as our potential QB of the future (assuming it's not Teddy B): Rosen?, Mariota?, Winston?, Tannehill?, other?

I'd give Rosen or Mariota a real shot in the Saint's system. If anybody says Winston they're stupid. Tannehill is probably a good backup, at least.

None of the above. Let Sean do his thing and pick up someone in the draft that can be paid peanuts for 5 years and ride on this defense while he gets his shite sorted out.

Sean is a great coach and I never want him to leave. But keep in mind not one QB he drafted is on this team or has become a full time starter in the NFL. I'm not sold on his ability to evaluate college QBs EXCEPT for the fact we would have drafted Mahomes over Lattimore.

Wow, this was stupid.

There have been 166 qbs drafted since 2006 when Payton became the head coach.

The Saints have drafted . . . . 2.

Sean Canfield 7th round 2010
Garrett Grayson 3rd round 2015

Can you image why the Saints haven't drafted a qb?

Maybe because they have had the all time leading passer in NFL history starting. Why waste picks on qbs when you are already set at that position?

Mariota or Rosen with another year or two of Brees would be worth a try. They both have talent and have been in absolute shite situations.

Getting him in the 1st or 2nd round was stupid.

If Winston were smart he would offer his services cheap as a back up at N.O. the Pats or seattle. Shut up and learn.

Guy has God given talent and a adolescents brain.

I wonder what Winston would do if he was released and went to a team that didn’t try to make him a leader or face of the franchise. Basically made him the Trent Dilfer.

He has a ton of talent. But he needs his ego checked.

Try to get Derek Carr before any of those. Feel like his early career has a lot of similarities to pre saints Brees. I think Payton could do a lot with him.

there have also been several he has signed off practice squads and picked up as undrafted free agents and zero have developed.

Fact is Sean Payton has yet to develop a young QB into a starting quality QB in his entire career. You can call it stupid all you want but as of right now it is a fact.

He left the eagles the year before Mcnabb got there
He left the Giants the year before Eli got there
He left Dallas the year before Romo became the starter.

Taysom looks to be developing. But when you pick up undrafted guys, they tend to not be very good.

Joe B. isn't the only name coming out next year

Other

Saints will wait until Drew retires to either trade up and draft a QB or pick one up in FA. It doesn't have to be this year or next year.

Everyone gonna hate on you but Burrow is the real deal. Just athletic enough, great pocket awareness and quick decision making. Plus he is a competitor. He will be a better than average nfl qb. We just cant give up picks to get him so we wont get him. I just hope he goes afc

Ok, so the other teams couldn't develop them or even want them as college free agents, but that's on Payton? Have you heard of the term "camp arm?" Sometimes they sign players just so your starter doesn't blow out his arm in training camp.

Seems like he picked up a player whose former team had moved on from and that turned out ok for the Saints.

Not sure how that has any reflection on him. Oh, and Payton was the reason that Romo signed with the Cowboys. They went to the same university. Payton recruited him to the Cowboys. Then Payton worked with him until he was the starter.

The simple fact is that he hasn't HAD to develop another qb as a head coach because he took a mediocre qb and made him the all time leading passer in the league.

Alex Smith still may want to play after he's done with his 20 surgeries.

Why did this board light me up last year for hoping Joe would be Drew's replacement? You could/can see it in his play he's a great fit to this Offense. Taysom size and Drew potential

Rosen doesn’t have any help around him now. Nor does he have a good offensive philosophy around him. He would thrive under Payton.
