Or do we find a way to move up in the draft to get an elite QB?

We absolutely sign Teddy and it’s the best move we can make

Sign Teddy to a 3 year deal, give Taysom a lifetime contract as #2, and draft a future guy with #24 if it’s worth it. That’s the best plan if Brees retires but the sooner he decides the better for the Front Office.

god i hope not

teddy is a decent to good QB but i dont see him being anything special, just a run of the mill average QB to win 8-9 games a year at best

a boring average QB that just gets you 8-9 wins a year isnt who we should be settling for

I know we went 5-0 with Teddy and he's a great guy but i don't want to spin our wheels with him. I don't ever see him being "the guy ". Good game manager. Can make a throw here and there but nothing really that impressive about him to me. I feel like that 5-0 was more of a product of solid run production and the defense playing out of their minds. But hey, I'm just a jagoff on the internet what do I know.

“Product of solid run production”

Might be the best thing for the Saints. Why the hell we abandon the run with Drew us beyond me

Taysom as the #2 is worthless.

His entire value is him being able to be on the field as a swiss army knife.

If he's the #2, he doesn't see the field until Teddy is hurt.

I still think Brees retires.I also think this is a shite QB draft once burrow and Tua are gone.

Jesus Christ people. Taysom was always the backup QB when Drew was out. Did I ever imply he wasn’t going to continue being the Swiss Army knife for us?
All I’m saying is we go forward with a plan similar to Weeks 2-6 in 2019. Only difference is a true #3 QB who is likely drafted by us.

I would sign him. He’s the best out there. I think he has a chance to be really good and he’s a winner. He’s no Brees, but I can see him being top 15 WB in the league. Maybe see how 2020 goes if Brees does retire and then make a move for a QB. Wish we could get Borrow, but the Saints would have to give too much for him.

Taysom cannot play the role he's been playing if he's the second string backup.

Yes and the Saints odds to make the Super Bowl will improve.

They won't improve because Teddy is a better QB, but they will improve because Sean Payton will call balance plays than he did with Brees as starter.

We just watched SF win a game where the QB threw the ball 8 times....There is no way Payton would do that with Brees on the roster.

Hell even Kubiak did that in Denver with Manning, he took the ball out of his hands and ran the ball and Manning made a few plays here and there.

It's time for Brees to move on, but I would imagine him waiting to see what Brady does....He doesn't want Brady to beat his record.

Sign Teddy if Brees retires... if it works out, great. If it doesn't then presumably, we will have a record bad enough to put us in contention for the next big thing.

Kind of how I felt about signing a guy after a major surgery who could keep his job on his previous team. That worked out OK for us, though.

Then make him #3 on the depth chart and draft your #2 QB
