Ideal scenario where there could be unilateral support among all Saints fans

Browns and giants pass on Shedeur.
Shedeur drops to Saints.
Saints trade with Browns who desperately need a qb still. (maybe browns even drafted travis hunter in 2 spot... shedeur's bud)
Saints acquire browns 2nd round pick 33 (first of day 2), 3rd round pick 67 and next year's 2nd. Maye toss in a pick swap next year. That gives us now 5 picks in 2nd and 3rd round this year.
Can still address any number of needs with all of our picks including a qb with pick 33/40.

That is terrible value for a trade back from 9 to 33.
You would have to get next year's 1st from them.

you can say whatever you want but the draft value chart math checks out. I'd doubt the browns would risk giving up a top 12 pick next year along with the other picks this year.

A 2nd, a 3rd this year and the value of a 3rd (2nd next year) for #9 overall? Please don’t be absurd. Although, we are talking about Mickey Loomis so he would probably do it for less.

To move from 27 to 14, we gave up our following year 1st.
If we are not getting a 1st round pick, I am not interested in moving out of the 1st round entirely.

and we hated it for years and didn't give up two 2nd's and a 3rd neither. it was next year's 1 plus a 5th.
its possible we could squeeze more out the trade bc its for a qb but i'm just trying to be mildly cautious when throwing ideas against the wall.

We are also talking a difference of what? 11 picks between that trade and this one? That is a very large difference.
Moving from 9 out of the 1st round completely, giving up the 5 the year option, etc, would require a very large premium from another team.
You can throw the trade chart in the trash when teams are making that extreme a move.

thanks bunch. very convenient when you're arguing against simple logic of math adding up exactly.
In this scenario we are getting the closest pick to round 1 that possibly exists, the 3rd pick of the 3rd round and a 2nd round pick next year plus i said a pick swap of sorts. The precise details of the trade don't overly fricking matter to me tbh. I also said i'm just being cautious with the trade ideas, i hate when people throw pie in the sky expectations out there.

Its not as simple as math.
First of all, not all teams are slavish to the jimmy johnson trade chart and there have been MANY trades that don't align with it.
You are asking a team to move not just out of the top 10, but out of the first round. There is a premium involved in that large of a trade back, even in what is seen as a weak at the top draft.

Many did not hate it for years. I was told Davenport was the next Reggie White and elite edge rushers so not grow on trees and the cost to acquire was peanuts.
Only when it was apparent Loomis and scouting busted on the selection and cost to acquire did those who loved the trade start to hate it.

jesus bunch. i don't overly give a flying frick about arguing over next year's first or not. I'm not sure we squeeze both pick 33 and next year's first. maybe who the frick knows. Getting pick 33 is arguably more valuable than a late first. Teams have all night to throw trade ideas at you.

You are swapping 9 for 33. The rest of it is the value between those two spots.

I support this trade because Loomis would get fired on the spot for such a shite arse trade.

You’re advocating giving up the 9th pick, and walking away with 0 1st rounders in return. You’re a dunce.

Would be the biggest fleecing in draft history.
0/32 teams would give up a top 10 pick to move out of the first round and not get any kind of first rounder in return.

Really? You doubt they’d risk giving a POTENTIAL top 12 NEXT year for a DEFINITE top 10 THIS YEAR?
That’s not at all how this works.

More likely Pittsburgh trade up from 21.
Trade scenario from RJackson would be like
Pitt #9
NOR #21, 3rd rd pick Mid 80ish, 2026 1st Rd pick .
This is very similar to what KC did to trade up from 27 to 10 to get Mahomes.

You woupd be a worse GM than Loomis. That is terrible value for a top 10 pick. Throw in next year's 1st with the rest and that would be a much better package. You don't trade this years 1st for two 2nd round picks.
