he's worth taking a chance on if he's younger... but the dude will basically be a 26 year old rookie, for a majority of this season... his window to become a starting caliber QB is very, very short... we don't have time to wait around, nor can we pass on upcoming prospects in the next few year's drafts, waiting to see if this guy gets it or not...

I really don’t think age matters. Look how often teams change QBs. Outside of the top tier QBs there’s a ton of turnover. Of course everyone wants to find their franchise QB but most don’t. So if he’s a decent QB for 4-5 years like Garropolo…

You’re really reaching for things here and it’s weird at this point. If you’re saying that he’s the next Daniel jones then that’s fine. All i said is he showed a lot of things successful QBs in this league showed in their first start in the preseason. I didn’t make any claims about his future other than he could have me if he continues to develop. You need to try and read more brother

Rattler was a 5th round pick with no mention of being a NFL franchise QB. Somehow, the saints and the fans had this high expectation he would play like a 1st round day 1 starter.

He plays like a 5th rounder with no expectation to be a franchise QB. He is what he is.

Shough is very similar in that he had no hype to be a day 1 franchise QB, but the saints made him a 2nd round pick when he should have been a 4th or 5th rounder at best. The Saints panicked in the draft and I guess thought if they paid Bentley price for a Toyota, they would get better value.?? It does not make sense, but he is what he is. Maybe he will learn the game but to think any of these 3 QBs would play like a #1 pick day 1 starter was just not being honest.

There are not enough practice sessions to give both of these guys equal time now. They have to pick one to focus on and hope they can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

True that.... vinny testaverde didn't become good in the NFL till he was in his late 30s.

I'm not reaching at all. You literally posted this quote in this thread.

quote:

if you watched him today and only saw career backup then you i don’t think you know a thing about football.

You are beyond stupid if you believe that's what I'm saying. Daniel Jones had a nice first ever preseason game. He's arse. The point was there is nothing that can definitively be taken from today in the long term yet in this thread alone, you already claimed Shough is a starting NFL QB.

That's nowhere near close to being what your original post in this thread said.

Says the guy ready to crown a rookie QB an NFL starter after just 2 quarters of preseason play.

Jesus you really can’t read at all. “If he continues to grow from what we saw tonight yeah he def should be”. Tell me where I’m claiming him to be already? I saw some good signs and if he continues to progress he has a good chance and he def has the talent. I’m sorry that doesn’t fit your narrative but it’s just plain reading comprehension issues.

Are these not your own words?

Yes, meaning if that’s all you saw was a career backup and didn’t see any other potential than that then yes, you don’t know football. Like you don’t know how to read

Daniel Jones didn't look like a career backup in his first ever preseason game either. Guess those Giants exes, scouting department & coaches don't know football either.

Asking for a friend.

Crowning someone a capable NFL starting QB after a few quarters of preseason football against a bland, talentless defense is ridiculous.

I don't know that the guy was saying that. I think he's saying the flip side of what you were saying, that you can't judge him as a career backup based on what you saw in preseason game 1. Just like you can't judge him as a career starter either. Either judgement would be premature
