I pray to Tim Tebow that this does not happen.

So we're drafting Roman Harper again?

you guys act like a comparison to harper is a bad thing. There are a lot of attributes harper gave us that i pray our next safety does as well. I think landon may have a bit better potential in pass coverage than harper but in any case, a ss shouldn't be covering anything more than a tight end or something close to LOS. we need an exciting physical safety that is more in tune to every down play. Vaccaro didn't elevate himself to being a difference maker this year imo.

Exactly. I mean we only already have Byrd, vaccaro, bush, sunseri, warren , etc. is Marcus ball a safety or cornerback?

No. I'm acting like if we were drafting Harper 2.0, why not just keep Harper with his experience and leadership already in tact on this team?

Drafting a safety in the first round would make less than zero sense for this team. It would make negative sense

cause after 9 years in nfl, he's lost a step and didn't have the same athleticism. we tried to replace him, it may not be going so well.

IDK what they are doing at the safety spot anymore. I get that Bush and Byrd were hurt and Vacarro regressed, but even before that what was the plan? Seemed like a bunch of individuals trying to be the man rather than a team trying to play well. I go back to my earlier statement that with the guys that left (Vilma, Smith, Harper, Jenkins) we missed their leadership and intangibles much more than we missed their on field performance and it made a much bigger impact than I thought at the time. I thought with the "upgrades" in talent the defense should be better. I was dead wrong

And what happened to Cam this year? I didn't get to see a ton of games but was he double teamed and planned for more this season or did he just take a step back?

Collins is far from the one trick pony he's labeled as. He's just been beaten in coverage in some big moments like the ole miss game, but overall the guy has been solid in coverage throughout his career, you won't find a DB that's never been beaten. His miscues get blown out of proportion here because Lsu fans can't wait for him to slip up, so they're always looking for it to happen when bama is on.

If he was Landon Collins from Nashville TN then he's probably getting praised here for game sealing interceptions against MSU and Arkansas, thats just the nature of the beast. He's not a coverage specialist but he's a better all around safety coming out than Vaccaro and Reid were. Saints have bigger needs than Safety. I think best player available is the right draft strategy, but if you have a group of guys that graded out close then you take the one that best fills a need.

Nailed it. Guy is a much better player than given credit for on here but we've got other issues that need to be addressed first. He will be a solid starter for an NFL team. All the hate for Roman Harper is baffling to me as well. He had some great years as a saint. Hell, anybody that started on the Super Bowl team will forever have my respect except for Darren Sharper.

hell, he was 2nd on that team in tackles, barely behind vilma, no close 3rd in sight. He was a rock on that D for a 6 years.

He's the best safety in the draft by a large margin.

Your Bama homerism is showing here. He's a very good safety, but he's overrated. In almost any other year, he may not sniff the first round with the safety talent coming out the past few years.

He's an above average safety that is getting propped up based on a lack of talent at that position in this year's draft. He's really almost a clone of Roman Harper.

My bama homerism? Go find any draft board or mock draft that has another safety even close to Collins. I didn't say he was the best safety prospect to come out in 5 years, I said he was by far the best safety prospect coming out this year, which is the truth.

And I hate to tell you, but he's a first round pick in most drafts. He'll destroy the combine to go along with his production in college. Guys that can run and jump like Collins at 220 and produce at a high level go in the first round. Perhaps your bama hatred is showing

If we draft Landon Collins in the first round, I will put a fricking bullet in my brain. That would be a garbage garbage pick.

YAY another BAMA bust. Just what this team needs in the first round of the draft. It's not like there are more GLARING problems elsewhere on the roster.

Sure just take an overrated safety who sucks in coverage. If the front office did this I'd be through.
