I'm not sure I want this management team wasting more of our picks on these positions. They are incredibly unsuccessful drafting defense.

Is this really true?

1. Mark Ingram- Is having his second bout with turf toe since 2011. Turf toe sounds minor but it has ended many careers in the NFL. Ingram's issue appears chronic.

2. Tim Hightower- Is 30 years old & will be 31 by the start of next training camp.

3. Travaris Cadet- Is trash

4. Daniel Lasco- Can't stay healthy

5. Marcus Murphy - Is a warm body on the roster who just can't seem to get right.

So please enlighten me as to how RB is the least of the Saints problems? I hope you meant WR.

We have far too many other pressing matters to attend to in the draft before him. He's a great back and will the only starting white running back in the NFL next season, but won't be ELITE.

We need OL, DL, LBs and Secondary players first and foremost. RB is one of the least pressing needs on this team.

Not sure how anyone can see Cadet in on key situations and realize we need to upgrade our options there. McCaffery is absolutely a player that would fit in well with this offense.

Versatile enough to split out wide, catches very well, makes people miss, has great patience, has great vision, and has the kind of bloodlines Payton tends to gravitate towards.

I feel this guy is on the Saints radar, absolutely. Whether he should be or not is the debate.

To me, he's a much less explosive Reggie Bush.

I'd say 3DRB/2nd RB is definitely a need, it just isn't in the top 6-7 needs.

A third down RB or "satellite" back is definitely a need. Cadet is playing that spot and he's absolute garbage. When this offense was elite, we had Reggie and Sproles playing that role. We signed Spiller to be the next in line, but that didn't pan out and our offense has suffered ever since.

Drew made a living dumping it off in the flat to our RBs and we used to have the speed at that position to routinely pick up first downs. We don't now and its obviously an issue. We used to be the best screen team in the league as well, but we cant even run that now. We don't have the backs or guards to do it.

I understand people want to keep adding to the defense, because it still has some big holes to fill. That doesn't mean that we dont need someone to upgrade that satellite back role. It is an integral part of SP's offense and it must be addressed this offseason, IMO.

2006 Draft Reggie Bush 1st Round #2 overall

2011 Draft Mark Ingram 1st Round #28 overall

History under Payton says the chances of taking a RB in the 1st round are pretty high on his watch.

Speaking of history 2009 & 2011 so far are the best seasons the Saints have had under Sean Payton. Let's look at where those teams ranked in rushing.

2009: Ranked 6th

LINK

2011: Ranked 6th

It also appears that Payton will run the ball when he has a team that can consistently excel on the ground & in doing so, the team overall benefits from doing so.

I'm not going to lie, I didn't even read the post. But I've been legitimately laughing at "Standord" for the past two minutes.

You think we're not just a RB away but the 4th best in the draft away from a playoff berth?

A lot easier to build an elite defense over the next few drafts than it will be to build an offense that can succeed without drew. Focus on the front 7
