Trade 1.1 for a vet QB and a pick or 2.

That's exactly what this franchise will do. Then in 3 to 5 years we'll dump him and he'll go to another team and probably flourish.

I think the more successful trend is to get good pieces around a FA vet QB.
No, you do not get the #1 pick often. If you get it, you get your franchise QB (either with that pick, through trade, or multiple 1sts in a trade if you want to wait until next year). Where are you getting the magical franchise FA vet QB?

Why can’t people understand this. If there’s somebody worth picking at 1.1, you pick him and don’t think twice. If that person is not there, nobody is going to trade with you.

This isn’t a tails I win, heads you lose situation. You either;
1) Pick a franchise player that is available top 2 or 3 overall, or
2) Give up your opportunity to pick a franchise player and get some picks back in return, or
3) There is no franchise type player available and nobody will give you anything of value for your pick.

This year looks like situation #3.

Especially since this front office can’t nail draft picks !!!

We need to find a QB and hopefully draft Jeremiah Smith

Honestly it's a dream scenario. Grab Mendoza or whoever is the clear-cut number one QB at the end this year and Smith next year.

I think Bain is supposed to be the only A+ this draft. Everyone else a B.

If we don’t get #1 pick and Bain we in a bad way

Where did I say they didn't?

We can use the #1 pick to get those guys when there aren't good QB options.

I hope they trade back and get a boat load of picks. This team has so many needs not just quarterback

There's no reason to draft a QB this year and waste a year or two of his rookie contract. When we are ready to compete in 2027 or 2028 you either do what it takes to draft the QB you want or go out and get the vet you want. This pick should either be BPA or trade back to get an extra high second rounder.

This is all just supporting the argument to NOT draft a QB 1.1 this year and to build up our supporting cast first.

We are 5 elite (all-pro or pro bowl) players along with 5 more very good starters away from winning 10 games a year.

Do not draft a QB at #1 just because you want to.

Look at Ward, Young, or Lawrence. None of them are elite. Paying an average QB (Derek Carr) $40m+ a year will wreck your cap.

Neither of them are better than Williams, Daniel’s, or Maye whom all came in the same draft.

Wait until it is a can’t miss prospect, not just filling a need. Better to draft top five three years in a row waiting for that superstar QB.

Get Bain this year, Jeremiah Smith next year and a top QB in three years.

Hundreds of post about the lack of first round qb picks by the Saints. Finally a year comes when we may get the no1 or no2 pick.

Nah we have more needs let's trade out get more picks.

Hahahahahaha

Be careful not to enter free agency and fukk up your cap again with a free agent QB.

You made the 2nd rd investment in Shough… now you gotta live with it and play him remainder of 2025 and all of 2026.

Use your draft picks on BPA

Idk man. I know Simpson is a first year starter but just watching him play is different than a lot of the other QBs, even Mendoza.

His movement and feel in the pocket. Athletic. Goes through progressions. Good footwork as well. I could be talked into him way more than Mendoza. Lot of scouts are putting those two as the top 2 now and even some like McShay think Simpson is way better

Some of what Simpson does feels lucky at times. Sometimes he just panics and throws the ball off his back foot and he completes it bc his WR group is better than the secondary they are playing against.

The thing I like about Mendoza is that he is an older school style elite QB that can complete balls based off of ball placement, WR leverage vs a certain look, elite anticipation, etc. He's elite on back shoulder passes in particular. That is appealing to me bc Brees, Brady, Peyton used to feast on those types of throws.

Mendoza has height, overall size, arm talent, accuracy, defense reading abilities, under the center reps, and solid movement skills. I think he's a great prospect and if Kellen Moore is worth a damn, he will be able to develop Mendoza into a top 8 QB in the NFL.

Saints will it draft a qb next year. They will have a top (maybe the top) pick but will use it on another position.
The Saints will sign a stop gap vet to stop the bleeding at the qb position. They will have to overpay, but that’s just how it is. Think Kirk Cousins
