How optimistic are you about the Dalton start?

I am pretty damn optimistic. This is a guy who was good enough to get a huge contract at one time. Brought some success to Cincy they hadn’t seen for a long time. And he played very well in preseason this year.

Lots of negatives too. But I wonder how much of that was just the awful franchises he’s played for. I haven’t actually seen much of his play in years. It’s a somewhat blind optimism!

If he’s just nfl average we could go places

I'm excited for change...obviously, Winston had some problems that many claim are physical.
I fault the coaches for putting the team in a crippling situation with that knowledge and still playing him.
This isn't a popularity contest, it's the best man for the job situation...I hope Winston heals and comes back with the potential that all expect of him but for now I'm riding with the Red Rocket!

There's a reason he's Winston's backup and doesn't start anywhere else. I expect to see a heavier run game than we've seen in a while.

Damn, Saints fans can't even get his nickname right.

Perhaps. But the Saints have weapons that should be used, so I’d be disappointed.

His time in Dallas is concerning. His stats there were bad when Dak was putting up good numbers.

If he does well though, please sweet jeebus leave Winston on the bench. I will melt if Allen benches a successful Dalton

Winston was Taysoms backup his 1st year in New Orleans.

Sean is the most arrogant coach I've ever seen, especially when it comes to QBs. Everyone knows Taysom isn't good and Sean was determined to make himself look like a genius and prove that he could turn Hill into a true QB. You also recognize Winston beat him out the following season, yes?

If a person thinks our bad play is all on JW then I could see a lot of optimism.

But if we don't turn the ball over, incur few penalties and get good play calling, even barely average play from a QB can get us wins.

Dalton may not be able to throw quite as far as Winston, but is better at literally everything else you need your QB to do. Glad he's finally starting.

This person wouldn't understand football and their opinion doesn't matter based on that fact.

Much more optimistic than if Jameis were starting.

I’m not happy with either, however. They both suck.

I'm 100% optimistic that he can't be any worse than JW.

Dalton is not a longtime solution but honestly, there's clearly something wrong with Jameis right now. He's either legitimately too hurt to play or his stupidity is finally unable to he masked.

Red Rocket may or may not win it for us but he gives us a better chance than CrabLegs.

It's not.

Now the Ginger Avenger, I could go for that (also not better)

Not particularly. I’m expecting more of the same with Dalton.
