my 1st saints game was when O J simpson came to town in 1973 in tulane stadium. the saints won 13-0 and held O J under 100 yds in his record breaking season.

I was there! As I recall, we held him to 70-something yards on his way to 2003.

TRIVIA -

That year, O.J. was held under 100 yards on three occasions. Without Googling it, what teams held him to under 100 yards?

You're partially right.

BIG Hint -- It's sort of a trick question.

BINGO!

Although he's on the Cowboys Ring of Fame, and was MVP of Super Bowl V (Colts 16 ... Cowboys 13), very few people even recognize his name.

You're right about so few recognizing his name.

I was born 8 days after the Saints in November of 1966, and have been a fan as long as I can remember. I love the Tigers and college football a little more, but not that much. I'm loving this.

Newcomb, great work.

I think my first game was that Monday night against the Steelers. We sat in the southeast corner, in the single deck.

Loved the Jazz and Rod Hundley on the radio. I never saw the Bucs, but in the Jazz' first season, they played home games in the Municipal Auditorium. That is, until January when Carnival began and they were exiled over to the Loyola Field House with its raised court, nets on either side of the court and benches on the end of the court.

In later years I played racquetball in there once they made it the rec. center.

Didn't the Dolphins do it twice that year?

Saints, Jets, and Dolphins i think. i know the Saints held him to 79 yards (i think). ironically, he needed a 200 + yard game against the jets in the last game of the season to hit 2,000

BINGO!

At the time, the Dolphins were in the middle of their consecutive Super Bowl run with the "No Name" Defense. So, their stopping O.J. was expected. But, the Saints holding O.J. to 70-something was totally unexpected.

didn't read the whole thread but I have kept the faith. I have hoped for some playoffs and Super Bowls some years. This year it was a firm prediction for me. I saw 12-4 and facing SD (oops). For the disillusioned old fans I standardly rant "This ain't your daddy's Saints".

I'm just soaking it in now. Somethings you know are gonna be big- your wedding, your child born,... then the Saints in the Super Bowl is pretty close after 43 years of waiting. There's no anticipating it- just experience it for all it's worth.

Didn't think I see a LSU football Ntl. Champ., but did, and saw 2. This would be bigger, I guess, because LSU were always winning growing up. And the Saints, well, they were just the Saints. This is much more exciting, and if they win, frickin Who Dat.

I never thought I would see this day come. It's been a long, winding, bumpy road. But it is really here. Here's for a GREAT game Sunday.
