Mecom was shite owner..He didn't care about the team winning, he just to have a reason to party on Sunday..If he owned an NFL team today he would be forced out.

And don’t forget the year when most of our skilled players on offense went to the pro bowl.

Proving what he could do with talent.

I don’t blame him for not wanting his sons going to a shite organization.

The Dick Nolan teams? Those were his best years by a mile. That's when he was going to Pro Bowls.

It was the trash JD Roberts and John North teams that nearly broke him in his early years.

I think there was a personality clash between himself and Hank Stram. He was injured in Stram's first year and 1-8 in his second year, including the loss to the 0-26 Buccaneers.

Whatever it was, he just had so much bad luck. He was with the worst team ever his first few years. Then he got good and the team coked out on him and got traded to San Diego in 1980.

I remember an interview with him on NFL Films about being traded to Houston. He told Bum Phillips that he could forgive him for trading him from New Orleans, but he couldn't forgive him for being traded to the only team worse than New Orleans.

Good QB on a mostly putrid team.
You wonder what ifs had he gone to a competent team.

...like a God.

In truth, he was overrated. Good player. The best player the franchise had for a long time. But, not in the neighborhood of a Hall of Fame type.

I’ll chime in even though my past responses were not well received in regards to the Mannings.

In his era, on the field he was pretty damn good. Saints were God awful though. That side arm pass he had towards the end of his career probably extended it a few years.

That said, * the Mannings for not respecting the draft. They lost a fan that day.

He was a mixed bag. The whole "He would have been one of the greatest of the decade if he had a decent team" is overrating him.

Slightly above average QB on some really bad teams.

He’s romanticized by a lot of old saints fans.

Before my time, but he did win 1979 NFC Offensive Player of the Year. That says a lot.

Love that man.
Spent his whole NFL career running for his life. Can't imagine how well he would have done with an O-line that provided some protection.

Yes Eli (manning entitlement) telling the Chargers dont draft me or I will sit out a year. Then Peyton....not shaking drew brees hand after the superbowl in Miami. His hometown team, who his dad played for and could not show the sportsmanship and a lick of class to shake one of the best guys and most respected in the NFL's hand. Showed the delusion of the Manning mystic... And just how they confuse themselves on ever achieving who they are next to Drew's nutsack..

The 70s was a shitty era for QBs. Bradshaw and Griese are “legends” because of their defenses and RBs.

The Rams were winning double digit games every season with clowns like James Harris and Pat Haden.

Staubach and Tarkenton were mostly legit. But what’s after that? Kenny Stabler? Dan Pastorini? Jim Hart? Ken Anderson? Fouts wasn’t legit until about 78.

Craig Morton and Vince Ferragamo were leading teams to Super Bowls. Don’t tell me Archie couldn’t have made noise with a competent franchise.

That fact the he is the only player to be MVP of his conference while on a losing team 1978 the saints were 7-9. That should tell how good he was when he had a competitive team around him. Plus not to mention the respect he got from his peers.

I have always wondered what really went on there. That was totally out of character for Archie and his family.

Imagine Zion calling up the Pelicans front office and saying do you know who my daddy is. If you know any better you will not draft me because I rather go to the Grizzlies. If you do draft me I will sit out a year and go back in next year's draft.... How the New Orleans basketball fans feel about that?

Not a good look...But that was just small slices of their entitlement. Peyton has been accused of sexually harrassment at Tennessee. Eli was never a generational talent but is making a living of getting is arse whipped like his paw. His brother was better but spoiled that's why he ended up in Denver. And Archie, took an arse whipping on the field...big deal he got paid for it.

That is why I would like to know what really happened. To my knowledge they have never pulled anything like that before.

You got some other examples?

Peyton has been accused of sexually harrassment at Tennessee.

Dude mooned a teammate in the locker room and you call that sexual harrassment?

quote:

Eli was never a generational talent but is making a living of getting is arse whipped like his paw.

Who ever said he was? Eli has been a good to above average QB. Who made way more money than he would have anywhere else. All because twice he beat what some consider the greatest QB and dynasty ever in the biggest game and the fact that he played in New York.

quote:

His brother was better but spoiled that's why he ended up in Denver.

if he was spoiled how does that put him in denver?

FWIW, I am and was a huge Archie fan. He was the saints QB when I was a kid. Also because he was the style of QB I like a athletic QB. His kids not so much. Don't dislike them, just not a fan.

But you, you have some kind of a axe to grind with the whole family. Did you go to Newman and one of them stole your GF?

It's documented he did not want his son to end up like he did. Thing is, you should not have the ability to dictate that to the NFL.
