Stafford or Winston. Basically a veteran placeholder

Stafford would be a little bit more than a placeholder. I hope the Lions view him that way because he would be an absolute stud with Payton. He'll only be 33 next year and he's spent his whole career with a dumpster fire of a franchise. I just don't see how the Saints can afford him.

To answer the question, I think it'll be Taysom.

Or do they make a move and bring in one of the disgruntled vet qb's?

We can’t afford it. Winston or Taysom will be the guy next year. Probably Winston.

In order of likelihood:

Stafford
Winston
Hill

I don’t know how Stafford is more likely than Hill or Winston but I’d love to see it. How do we make that happen? Is it possible?

Either we roll with Jameis or bring in some new blood (Stafford or Watson are dream scenarios). Taysom is not and can not be a full time QB in this league.

Winston, Stafford, or a 1st round QB if the Saints can trade Hill.

Trade Hill for a 3rd, trade Armstead for a 3rd

Trade both of those picks and their 1st this year and 2nd next year to move up into the top 10 and grab Wilson. Would solve a lot of issues. Free up cap space and get the QB of the future.

By next season the Saints could have cap space and a very young core.

We can't. This is a fantasy. We're gonna roll with Winston and Hill and plan for a down year to get us out of cap hell, with the hope that we can quickly rebound the next season. Who knows, maybe we get lucky and CSP really can fix Winston.

Odds to be the Saints starting QB in Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season (Bovada):

Taysom Hill -250
Drew Brees +300
Jameis Winston +650
Tyrod Taylor +1400
Ryan Fitzpatrick +1400
Kyle Trask +1800
Trey Lance +2000
Mac Jones +2000
Zach Wilson +3300

I think it will be Winston.

If I had to guess, we will have an “open competition” between Taysom, Winston and a draft pick or a low grade vet in camp and Winston will win because he’s the best pure passer.

Reporters will glow about how good he looks in camp and fans will either think he’s gonna have a top 5 season or he’s gonna be absolute trash.

In-season he’ll be mid tier, 35 TDs 15 INTs, we go 9-7 and get first rounded.

My prediction.
