Unfortunately I don’t think Sean is leaving the saints. He is leaving New Orleans. Won’t be back

Payton isn't going back to the Saints. If he does return after taking time off it will be with a different team. But, I agree we should stick to the staff we currently have. Hiring an outsider would be a big risk to the culture Payton established in New Orleans. It's bad enough that they're about to overhaul their roster.

Hiring Allen feels like the lazy option. Reminds me of the situation down the road in BR from a few years back. Head coach gone so lets promote up an assistant. Don't think we can depend on Burrow bailing this Saints out though.

Allen was 4 and 16 at Oakland. Some people might not be a great HC. I say go get young coach like Flores.

It’s not the same situation that happened in BR a few years ago. No one was interviewing or coveting Ed O to be their head coach. Teams are interested in DA and they should be after how his defense has performed

Its not the lazy situation at all. Its the payoff in investment for building a great culture. Its the payoff for having loyalty and trust in one of your coaches to get them to a point in their career they can take over.

The mistake many fans make is thinking every HC hire is the same. The saints HC opening is not the same as any other teams hire this year. The saints are not hiring because the team lost too many games and the culture needs to be changed. Just the opposite.

This HC hire has to be safe to maintain the culture and the winning. That is not done by throwing out your very capable in house candidates for an outsiders.

I think should say it all. They were a dumpster fire when Allen took over. I think Allen taking over the Saints would be a better situation and he has more experience as well

Dude inherited a dumpster fire in Oakland and wasn’t given time to turn it around. Not everyone has the Midas Touch. Besides, the Saints are not the Raiders…Payton left behind a great system to build on and hiring an outsider to change it would be irresponsible.
