I love the first round, but he has us taking Carson Strong in round 2 when Matt Corral and Sam Howell are still on the board. WTF?

quote:

16. New Orleans Saints (via IND): OT Charles Cross, Mississippi State
Anchoring at an above-average level, he uses his base to maximize his strength. Cross is patient with his punch and gets into the frame of rushers very consistently. He is poised to replace his hands when they get beat. His length is above average.

19. New Orleans Saints (via PHI): WR Garrett Wilson, Ohio State
He is sudden and violent with his hips in and out of breaks. At his best on a vertical plane where he can manipulate space and stop on a dime creating ample separation. Wilson shows good pace and stride variation making him tough to predict especially with his hip fluidity. Good understanding of finding soft spots in zone and working back to the quarterback.

No way Wilson falls to 19, right? I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s gone by 10 and the first WR off the board.

I’d love those two picks, I’m just not sure it’s realistic.

they lost me at pick #1 with Walker going over Hutchinson and Thibodeaux...

they also lose credibility with Ekwonu over Neal.... and in the second, Strong over both Corral and Howell

I have seen a case for Wilson falling to 16. I am not sure about 19. Definitely need London to be the first WR taken.

I am still trying to decide between Olave and Wilson. Most people say Wilson is easily better, but then I see people state Olave is better. And then you have people who say Williams is by far better than both. I understand athletes come back from ACL injuries much better now, but it still gives me hesitation. Without his injury I agree he is by far the best WR of this draft.

Chris Simms doesn't have either in his top 5. Look, I don't like Simms, but I still value anyone who watches film and gives input.

quote:

Chris Simms’ 2022 NFL Draft WR Rankings:
1.

Jameson Williams, Alabama

2.

Christian Watson, North Dakota State

3.

Alec Pierce, Cincinnati

4.

Treylon Burks, Arkansas

5.

Drake London, USC

No. 1 Jameson Williams: Alabama
What Simms Said: “Jameson Williams is to be the most slam dunk, easy evaluation I’ve seen so far. He’s Jerry Jeudy with another gear. DeVonta Smith with a little more strength. You name it, he can do it. He’s arguably the best route runner in the draft. Compared to the Ohio State kids he’s faster, he makes way more happen after the catch, and he breaks tackles.”

No. 2 Christian Watson: North Dakota State
What Simms Said: “The most pleasant surprise of the draft for me is Christian Watson. Another big receiver. I have all the confidence that you’ll continue to hear his name more and more as we go by here. Do you like DK Metcalf? Do you like Chase Claypool? Do you like Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Because that’s who Christian Watson is to me… When you look at the size, the skill, seeing the guy in person, you just go woah, this kid is a real specimen.”

No. 3 Alec Pierce: Cincinnati
What Simms Said: “Nobody can run with Alec Pierce. He runs by everybody, there’s nobody that can run with this kid. He’s in the conversation for the best route runner in the whole draft. His ability to get off the line of scrimmage with different releases and do it like a pro, whether it be the footwork, the hands, it’s as good as it gets.”

No. 4 Treylon Burks: Arkansas
What Simms Said: “He’s a weapon. He makes s**t happen. I’m not wowed by his ability to separate from DBs but I am wowed by what he can do with the ball in his hand…The route running is it special? No. Do I think there’s potential for it to be a lot better? I do.”

No. 5 Drake London: USC
What Simms Said: “Right off the bat he’s one of the greatest 50/50 jump ball receivers I’ve ever seen in the history of my evaluation period. It’s not 50/50 with him, it’s 90/10. His size is truly an elite thing he has. He uses it to benefit his skill set and his play.”

Agreed. I think Jameson Williams or Olave might be there at 19, but not Wilson

I've seen some scouts and insiders hinting that Jameson may be the first WR taken now. I hope not, but seems like his stock is higher with teams than with media.

I love how people say this every year about stranger mock drafts when there are other more notable mock drafters who put out even more inaccurate mock drafts. It’s fricking stupid to say shite like “there’s no way those guys are at that point in the draft” unless it’s like one of the top 5 guys lasting until the second round. After the first 5 or so picks, every team’s board and rankings are different, which is how Lattimore fell to us, someone this board said “no way would he fall” but he did…
