Watching SNF got me thinking he hasn’t called a game for us since then correct?

Am I the only one that finds it funny how the NFL goes out of their way to make sure he’s not calling a Saints game? frick that guy.

He has not. No way that is just by chance.

While some members of his crew that day have called Saints games since that day... the main 3 have not

Talking about head ref Vinovich and the 2 officials who should've actually made the call

Pretty sure a certain referee wasn't allowed in Oakland for a long time... perhaps it was the tuck rule ref? Not sure

Some of you don't know diddly about football officiating. The call was a blown call but it wasn't Bill Vinovich's responsibility to make that call. If he would have thrown a flag from the Referee position then he would have been downgraded by the NFL.

I think most of is know and understand that... but the "white hat" is the public face of the crew and such he's the 1 who receives the ire when something goes wrong

Also... that was a playoff game so it was a mixed crew... though several members of that crew (3 IIRC) were on Vinovich's regular crew for that season

Let’s not forget that Bill (from Los Angeles) claimed he didn’t see anything, but there were multiple shots of him staring down the play.

This is 100% right. He lied through his teeth.

Bill Vinovich:
quote:

"It's a judgment call by the officials," Vinovich told the media following the game where the Rams edged out the Saints 26-23 in overtime. "I personally have not seen the play."

Bill Vinovich watching the play:

Even though it was not Vinovich's initial call to make, he could have huddled the crew to discuss the call.

Vinovich has huddled his crew in other NFL games to discuss calls.

Four members of this allstar crew were from Southern California.

When you screw up on a national televised game looking like a deer in headlights you are lucky to have a job at all. The officials should have a poster with his face captioned "Don't be like this idiot"

I don’t know, sadly, if you can call him an idiot though. He did get “rewarded” shortly thereafter by being named head official for the Super Bowl.

This along with the obvious effort to protect him from NOLA tells you all you need to know. The NFL knows it was a missed call. They agree with the missed call and rewarded him for allowing the outcome that they favored.

Patrick Turner and Gary Cavaletto are the other 2 officials...neither has done a SAINTS game since the worst non call in nfl history...what piss me off is Turner had his hand on his flag and Cavaletto waived him off...it's on tape

The sad part is that Vinovich was pretty solid in Saints games leading up to the NFCCG. I actually looked forward to games he’d call for us because it wasn’t a shitty crew that flew flags every play. Unfortunately, he and his crew choked and held onto their flags through the most blatantly obvious no call in league history. F him

If I recall correctly it wasn’t his crew. It was an “all - star” crew that comprised of 4 officials from Southern Cal. Including the one who waived off the official who was about to throw the flag.

Fact is that the NFL's lax approach to enforcing its own rules smeared the credibility of its own product. FINALLY, an outrageous mistake caused a team to miss the Superbowl.

The NFL is entertainment. It's a show. It's not a legitimate competitive sport organization, IMHO.

The "No Call" was, more likely than not, intentional. Los Angeles is a HUGE mass media market and the financial best interests of the NFL were served by having the Los Angeles Rams represent the NFC in the Superbowl.

Mission Accomplished.

Epstein didn't kill himself, either.
