Maybe they had to give that up to get there. It's not like they gave up 2 high 1st rounders. They up a 27 this year and another pick that should be 27-32 next year.

Well, technically we “used” two first round picks on him, because we gave up next year’s to get him, and used this year’s on him. The people saying we traded two firsts for him are wrong.

We didn’t give up that much to move up as much as we did. It takes a lot to move up.
Chiefs gave up a future first and current third to move up from 27 to 10 last year. Future first are viewed comparably to current seconds.

Pretty much all we can interpret right now is that apparently the Saints FO highly values this guy and felt like his value was a lot higher than he was falling. Other than that we have no basis to know if they are right or not yet.
If this guy is a difference maker which they apparently think he is then he is worth it. If not then he wasn't. Going to put a little more trust in their evaluation than some keyboard heroes. Could still go either way though. The draft is a crapshoot.
This pick reminds me of trading up for Brandin Cooks and Mark Ingram.

What if he gets 4-6 sacks this year as a reserve but is a starter next season
