There is only one instance where a single player has worn a number and no one else has ever worn it on the team.

#8 - Archie Manning - New Orleans Saints.

No other team in the NFL has a jersey number that only one player has ever worn.

Newer teams but Mark Brunell and Jimmy Smith were with the Jaguars from inaugural season and they've never reissued their numbers. Same with the Panthers and Sam Mills.

Kind of a tangent to this, the most different numbers worn by one player is former Saint K Shayne Graham who wore 8 different numbers on 10 different teams.

3 with New Orleans
5 with New England
6 with Atlanta
8 with the Giants
11 with the Panthers
12 with the Ravens
16 with the Dolphins
17 with the Bills, Bengals, and Texans

Chat GPT steered you wrong, it appears based on saintsfan22. Cool fact though.

Interestingly enough, Brunnell is the only player to wear #8 for the Jags. So two of the four guys we know who have this honor wore #8.

Brunell wore #11 for the Saints

It seems that most of you misinterpreted my post.

Plenty of players have worn #8 but only one has wore #8 for the New Orleans Saints.

You misinterpreted mine. I stated that Brunell is the only player who ever wore #8 for the Jags in their franchise history. I found it interesting that #8 has only been worn by one player for two separate franchises.

ETA: this statement is the incorrect one.

For the Jacksonville Jaguars, only a handful of players have worn jersey number 8. The most famous by far was Mark Brunell, who wore #8 from the franchise’s beginning in 1995 through 2003 and basically made the number iconic in Jacksonville.
According to the Jaguars uniform history records on Pro Football Reference, there have been 5 players to wear #8 for Jacksonville.
The known players include:
* Mark Brunell — QB (1995–2003)
* Nick Folk — K
* Tavon Austin — WR
* Riley Patterson — K
* Brandon McManus — K

Brunell is definitely the one most Jaguars associate with the number 8.

Interesting. I used this site https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/uniform.cgi?number=8&team=jax

This shows only Mark Brunell.

On your example, Nick Folk never appeared on a Jaguar roster, Tavon Austin was #12 for the Jags, Riley Patterson was #10 for the Jags, Brandon McManus was also #10 for the Jags. Where did you get your info?

AI gets answer right just a tad more than a meteorologist, but somehow is considered the "future way of thinking".
