To get the top guards in FA's this year a team will have to out bid a lot of other teams. Its a high need small market. That means overpay or better yet out bid.

I'm in the camp of getting the top two guards the team sees in this years market price be damned.

Different one. Apparently there are 2

This one only played for the bills and cowboys

The other one played for the jets, Broncos and us

We had the bad one lol

I don’t remember seeing the news that we offered to trade for Walker. Guessing he’ll be a target next week

Mike D was talking about us going after Walker as a replacement for DD last week. Somebody must’ve leaked to him our interest.

I like Walker, he’s a specimen…..but he struggles with consistency (especially in coverage from what I’ve read). Though Staley’s system could end up getting the best out of him.

I would rather get someone like Leo Chanel to add to Stutsman, Werner, and Stallbird. There will also be solid options in the draft.

If we are going to spend money on defense…. I would rather spend it on a rotational pass rusher like Chaisson.

Spend money on G……hell get 2 guards and send Ruiz’s arse packing (won’t happen unfortunately).

I know PFF isn’t gospel, but….

Wendell Ferreira
@wendellfp
Packers' linebackers by PFF grades in 2025

Edgerrin Cooper 75.7
Isaiah McDuffie 69.4
Kristian Welch 66.1
Ty'Ron Hopper 57.2
Jamon Johnson 54.2
Quay Walker 48.5

Ranked 155 on PFF’sTop Free Agents list

quote:

Walker's time in Green Bay didn't match his first-round selection with a 46.0 overall PFF grade through four seasons. He particularly struggled in coverage in 2025, permitting 653 yards when targeted — the fifth-most for any linebacker. Teams approaching Walker could be interested in his age (25) and low missed tackle rate, but his collegiate abilities have yet to fully translate at the next level.

Unpossible! This board has told me for months that free agency is the best and only way to fix this offensive line.

Yeah that’s why I was a bit confused why we tried to trade for him. Struggles in coverage

That said Staley might have had a vision for him

Agreed.

I think we just need someone who isn’t a damn black hole. We have a pro bowl center and two VERY high draft picks at tackle. With that kind of investment on an O line, a competent starter in FA and lower to mid round pick SHOULD be able to complete the line.

At some point everyone can’t be a first round pick or high priced FA. It’s just not likely to line up in a sustainable way for more than a season or two and when you’re pulling resources from the rest of the roster for every single O line spot you’re essentially saying it better be one of the absolute top 3 in the league or you’re in big trouble.

Yep. I think we all need to realize that while it’s good to be excited that it appears we found our QB, we aren’t a year away from being a really good team. We have so many needs, we’ve wasted so many first rounders on players that didn’t work out, and have been cash strapped for so long…it’s not going to be a one year turn around.

And while I’m also in support of getting younger, we need to realize that Demario was still our best defensive player and Cam was our sack leader. We need to realize that rebuilding isn’t always linear.

I’ve posted this exact sentence. The patriots have skewed perception of what’s possible with their dog shite schedule and lucky breaks.

I really don’t understand fans/local media’s obsession with this guy. He’s physically gifted, but like I stated earlier…..he struggles in coverage. There’s also reports/opinions that he struggles in complicated schemes.

Staley’s defense has a lot of coverage rules with his pattern matching scheme, which may not be a good fit for him.

Someone is going to overpay for his athleticism, and I really don’t want that to be us. If we do sign him, hopefully Staley has a plan to get the most out of him.

Looks like we are for sure interested in:

LB- Quay Walker
CB- Asante Samuel Jr.
TE- Dallas Goedert
OG- David Edwards/ Vera-Tucker
RB- Etienne
DE-????
WR- Doubs

I wonder if there's a serious conversation about resigning Fortner at C, adding Edwards, and moving McCoy to OG. Other options will cost more, leave us in a worse position, or possibly involve moving McCoy/ Ruiz. If we do this everything is resolved and we still have Ruiz to backup C/ G.

Two guys I think we should target and shouldn’t go for high costs. James Daniels was a very good guard but injured last two years. Phins just signed him to a big money deal and cut him after getting hurt in the opener. He won’t count against the comp formula. Highly rated pass protector, plays right guard and could take Ruiz spot if he stays healthy.

And Teven Jenkins. Graded very high last year but wasn’t a Browns listed starter. Former tackle convert that plays mostly left guard.

Can’t see either guy getting big money deals. Both in late 20s. Sign them and draft a guard in the 3rd or 4th to develop. Let Ruiz be the backup center for McCoys inevitable injury if Fortner leaves.
