He isn't necessarily saying this 100% happened, but is suggesting it. Wouldn't surprise me given the relationship between the NFL, Sean and the Saints

Then there’s the question of where the report came from, and whether someone may have been trying to torpedo Payton’s candidacy in Denver, and maybe elsewhere. Hard feelings still linger between 345 Park Avenue and Payton over the bounty scandal. Would it be crazy to think that Maske, who routinely reports on league matters, was told my someone at corporate headquarters about Payton’s supposed misgivings, regardless of whether he actually has any?

Payton torpedo his self with ridiculous asking price. He may get it but he hasn't done enough to be paid on or above the level of bill

Probably true. The memo the league sent out about team's having lots of buyout money from paying coaches too much and/or firing them early was also extremely weird.

It just really weird the $$$ paid to coaches for him to want 20-25mil
BB is a unicorn and he's paid 20mil by the same team he's been with for 20+ years.
I imagine if CSP stayed with the Saints, he could command that, but free agency head coaches would be crazy.

I don’t think Sean is expecting 20-25. There was a report, which was most likely fake, that the broncos would be open to spending 20-25 mill.

Don't know myself I don't follow this shite 24/7 like some people. But if it is accurate that his new wife wanted out of new Orleans and the west coast then yeah it is accurate that he quit his job for a piece of arse. But if you want to get really technical, that term came about after world war 2, before it was referred to as "a piece of flesh"

Go back to 2006, you have to hire someone for 20 million a year, you only interview Payton and bill. Who are you hiring?

We're not in 2006, we're in 2023. Bill Belichick is 70 yrs old, wasn't special before Tom Brady took over, hasn't been successful since Brady left. His signature coaching aptitude is defense, which has a glass ceiling in the NFL, and football in general now.
Brady left, went to fricking Tampa Bay (a joke of a team for years), and promptly won a Super Bowl with a different coach.
Sean Peyton is 59, crafted a record-setting offense with Drew Brees and won a Super Bowl, and is considered an offensive genius. He won with a creative passing scheme with Brees, he won (in a small sample size) running basically the Single Wing with Taysom Hill, he has featured a WR offense (Colston, Thomas), TE offense (Jimmy Graham), a multiple-skill player offense (Bush, Sproles, then elevated that with Kamara), etc. If you have a potential offensive weapon, Peyton can highlight that guy no matter the position. He made Jameis look good
. Offensive "stars" who left the Saints turned out to be average players elsewhere. Moore, Snead, Graham, etc- nothing special with other coaches.
