I’d like a TE, but Juwan, Trautman and sprinkle in some Taysom isn’t what I’d call bleak.
We always sign serviceable blocking TEs off the street too

if one of the two top guards are there, the pick is done. peat is gone after this season...if not sooner. a talent improvement, and a cap win. cannot ask for anything more.

Peat is in his last year and there isn't much of a cap savings to can him as a post 6/01; I think he finishes the year on the roster and is gone after 2023. Which means you need to find his replacement now. Ideally the guy can jump in his spot sooner than later, but at the very least get someone that can provide interior line depth until they're ready to take over.

1 thing to consider if we don’t draft a guard, they may see James Hurst as a perfectly capable Peat replacement.

Yeah, Im not getting the TE love at #40. These 3 should be good enough to get us thru next season.
I definitely think we do need to get younger at the S position so getting Branch would be my pick.
I would be super excited if we were able to get Charbonnet in the 3rd round. That dude is an athletic freak that we could use with the Kamara situation and Kamara getting older in general.

I agree that they are probably thinking they are ok at Guard and won't draft one. We have gotten pretty used to Peat not being available. Hurst should be a good enough G if Penning takes over T and Ruiz and Throckmorten are also very capable.
I'd like a Guard like O'Cyrus, but I love drafting lineman. I think the Saints likely think they are ok at Guard for now.

In my imaginary draft, white and the NW DE were gone. That's why I went with who I thought I was the best player available, branch. I feel like branch could really help us
