Done deal: The #Falcons are trading former NFL MVP Matt Ryan to the #Colts for a 2022 third-round pick, sources tell me, @RapSheet and @MikeGarafolo.

Matt Ryan’s trade will incur a dead cap hit of $40.525M for the Falcons, the largest dead cap hit in NFL history by nearly $7M.
This feels pathetic.

Lol, Falcons fans were expecting more of a return then that. Guess they are tanking next year.

Now watch for Marcus Mariota to the #Falcons. Sources say Atlanta is expected to pursue a reunion with Mariota and Arthur Smith, who was with Mariota during his time with the #Titans.

I would have given a third for Ryan, but they never would have moved him to us.

At this point the Browns might offer the Saints picks just to take Baker off their hands lol

Work a back end deal with the colts.

Send them a 3rd and a 4th.

Falcons thought they were gonna have their "dynasty" QB in Watson, but instead, they'll end up with Mariota and no WRs.

Their move for Watson really torpedoed any chance of salvaging that relationship.

Colts were probably a threat for jameis so I imagine he’s likely headed back here now.

Tbh makes sense for the Falcons. Tried to get the homerun trade in Watson, but came up short. Now trading Matty Ice means they can go through a full rebuild. Which has been needed for a while tbh. There’s not one strong position group on that team. I think they tank this year, hit on their draft picks (O line big big need) and then hope to be bad enough to get Bryce Young or Caleb Williams next year.

Atlanta is such a shite organization. Glad to see it continues being that way.

I read/heard that Watson wanted the Falcons to get involved and they obliged to run up the cost. That seems pretty Falcony wishy washy hope and change bullshite, but you never really know. It got the Browns to bite.

I agree. If they really focus on the o line and lord knows they need a pass rusher, and then pair Young/Stroud/Williams with Pitts and maybe Ridley (if they can right that ship after his suspension), they’ll be fine. They were in need for a total rebuild. Carolina may have had the worst record in our division, but the Falcons have the worst roster

In other news, if the Colts can get a WR in the draft, i think they’ll win the AFC south over the Titans. Ryan will have a great o line, great running game, a good defense, AND a great coach. Rarely, if never, had all of that in ATL. And they only had to give up a 3rd rounder. I think you see a re-energized Matty Ice.

They really gave up 40 million in cap space for a 3rd round pick and a chance to start Marcus Mariotta? Holy shite, the Falcons suck.
