The defense made a business decision in the 2nd half. They knew Teddy was incompetent and the offense would never live up to their end, so they just took their foot off the gas and went through the motions.
Also factor in that Dennis Allen is once again a terrible DC who does just enough to save his job every year, and it's no wonder the defense sucks as usual.

Defense played like the best D in the country. Only so much they can do when the offense forces them to play the whole game.

They played well for half the game and then completely broke. I'm not saying they were the reason we lost, it was definitely a combination of many things (Brees injury, O line sucking, too many penalties), but acting like the defense is a strength of ours just isn't true.
