Brees simply has not won enough games.
It sucks but its true.
As a previous poster said, it all boils down to MVP's and rings.

What kind of games are you talking about? He's won more total games than 10 of those guys on that list.
If we are talking about rings, there are 4 on that list that don't have rings.

Struck the wrong key, thanks

When he retires, it's going to be hard not to feel sorry for Drew. A top 10 QB of all time, who never won as much as he should due to front office incompetence, and record-setting shittiness on defense.
He'll go down as one of the greats but I've always felt like he never gets enough credit nationally.
one of the biggest excuses people try and use against him is our "pass happy offense". What a joke. Some of the best QB's of all-time never had a good/consistent run game. Marino, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, etc. So naturally they all pile up massive numbers as well.
but I mean, he'll be a Hall of Famer, a Super Bowl champion/MVP, multiple Pro Bowler, and has earned a boat load of money over the years.
He deserves more credit than he gets, yes, but I wouldn't go as far as to say I'll feel sorry for him either.

Marino has neither

Marino #8 on the list in the OP

Its because he does not have an MVP and he has a lot of losing seasons compared to other greats at the position.
Drew has also been first team All Pro only once in his career.
The AP factors in All Pro and MVP's heavily when ranking greatness.

He's for sure better than Unitas, Bradshaw, Kelly, Tarkenton, Starr, Staubach, Marino, Favre & Graham. I'd take him over Elway & Manning too.
Brady
Montana
Rodgers
Brees
Young
Manning
Elway
Marino
Then whoever you want.

John Clayton is the same jackass that does the ESPN promo where he screams to his mother that his segment is not finished.
His NFL injury updates are as insightful as a small child's attempt to explain the reason for crapping their pants.
He is a hack pumping an agenda. His minutes of fame are not worth the price of his, now lost, soul.

Who would you take off?
Honestly I think the position has changed over the last few years.
To me because of this I would seriously have to reevaluate the careers of Bradshaw, Graham and maybe one or two others.
No doubt Bradshaw was a great QB. Did he put the Steelers on his back and carry them to titles? He had a whole lot of help. Fewer teams in the league to spread talent and so other reasons.

The only QB's I'd put over Brees are:
Peyton
Brady
Unitas
Brees is Top 5, and its silly to think he's not.
Montana and Bradshaw have no business being in the top 10. Look at their stats (in comparison to Brees) and the defenses they played with and explain to me how either one can hold Brees' jockstrap.

Super Bowl Champion, NFL record holder, first ballot Hall of Famer, millions of dollars, beautiful family, hot wife...
Yes, the man certainly needs our pity for being a failure.

Three words: Because New Orleans. If Brees played for the Giants he'd be the subject of arguments with Brady, Montana and Manning as to who is the GOAT.

You don't understand how the game has changed over the last thirty years, do you? Do you realize that the rate of interceptions is down more than 50% since 1985? Either the defenses are all crap today or the NFL has made it considerably easier to pass the ball.

Bradshaw is definitely overrated but why Montana?

Rodgers does not belong ahead of Brees. I do not understand where and when this myth began

Whysoserious,
Serious question, did you watch those guys play?

Also, why would anyone laugh at Kelly? Tarkenton?
