True but I think this is the direction the NFLPA wants it to go. Forced diversity hires, ownership regulations, diversity committees, forced minority ownership, etc.

Instead of a Rooney Rule, why not make a rule that NFL coaching staffs and rosters have to reflect the racial makeup of the nation?
It’s the only correct/true way to fix injustice.
Under the new rule, NFL coaching staffs and rosters would HAVE to be 50% white, 24% Hispanic, 13% black, 8% Asian, and the remaining 5% Native American/Eskimo and multiracial.
Could/would this work? It would certainly end racism accusations in the league.
The NFL could lead the way with this, and put pressure on the NBA and MLB to be as woke.

Interesting thought and premise.
Unfortunately though, there is only one minority that matters.
There are no other minorities in the media's eyes. Only one. All the other minorities magically don't exist.

Why not use the racial make up of the league? Wouldn't that be a more accurate/ sincere representation? The NBA is miles ahead of the NFL in it's efforts to incorporate diversity,there's no pressure the NFL can put on them.

How about legit hiring practices, and giving people actual opportunities instead of hiring the same old retreads because of who they know, or "the coaching tree"they came off.

You think there aren’t legit hiring practices in place? The free market dictates that the teams will hire the best qualified candidate. Period.
If they aren’t actually discriminating on race they’re within their rights to run their search how they see fit

Like I said in the other thread, if there are explain Joe Brady, because there is absolutely no reason that dude should have been hired as Offensive Coordinator other than his time with Payton... like I said "coaching tree", and there's nothing legit about that.

I see plenty of teams hire minority coaches, and for sure minorities have a larger % of players than there populations.

Wasn't a fan of the Rooney Rule until I heard an interview from a black coach who said that it benefited him because he was able to experience the hiring process. Even though it was just to fill a quota, it prepared him for real opportunities later. (No, I can't remember who it was.)

Don't think that this is just in the pro sports world. I have heard the same thing about teachers (85% of my students are black, 92% are minority), and even high school and middle school coaches. If you aren't (insert minority), then you can't understand their experiences and they need someone who does.

Because whites are only allowed to praise blacks, not themselves. Black people call themselves Kings and Queens. I don't think it would go over very well if a white guy called himself a King.
