Drew Brees

I noticed during the Saints/Vikings game that Brees did not have his usual zip, velocity,or accuracy on his passes. I begin to notice this midway thru the 4th quarter and then one of the TV announcers also mentioned he may be hurt. Did any one hear anything about this? Any substance to it?

It's called nerves in the biggest game of your life

I think the Vikings never let him get comfortable. He did get hit on the hand though when he fumbled so maybe he was feeling that.
He just missed a couple of receivers that really could've opened the offense up at times.

I think nerves. They wanted this game badly I'm sure, and not just for themselves.
The line did a great job giving him plenty of time all game. He was just a little off. Given a week off, I look for him and the rest of the offense to be as sharp as ever.

Even the passes he completed in O/T were low and off target to his receivers and well, tentative.

It's the same thing as when golfers get the yips (or whatever you call it) for big putts. It is nerve-racking as hell in situations like that, even for elite athletes. Amazing how nerves can screw with you like that. The guy had the pressure of the whole city on him with "we got to make it to the Super Bowl." He'll play better now that they have made it to the Super Bowl.

"tigerskin" I hope you are correct but if Manning has "been there and done that" where does that leave Brees in the SB based on his performance last night. I really feel that the Colts have a huge edge based on what I saw last night, but do not misunderstand, I really like Brees as a person and a QB.

Obviously, the Super Bowl is for all the marbles but I honestly believe Drew is going to feel a big "relief" by getting there. The emphasis around here has always been on "getting to the Super Bowl." They would have felt like they failed had they not won that game last night. And Drew was feeling it. Of course they want to win the big one but like I said earlier they are playing with house money now. Win or lose, they now know the season will be a success by at least "making it to the Super Bowl." Not saying they will win, but I predict they play much looser.

they'll play much looser because nobody, and I mean NOBODY is going to give them a shot against the "greatest QB ever". Colts will be picked to roll, and it's going to be balls to the wall playing by the Saints. If they're going down, they're going down in blaze.

He was off last night.
Maybe there was something still lingering from the knee injury last week, or the Vike D, or maybe nerves.
Hopefully the offense is clicking in 2 weeks
